What do you guys think about the D15B (3-stage VTec)

I was reading up on the D15B engine, and it's supposed to (basically) combine the economy of a SOHC non-VTec and the smooth power band of a SOHC VTec. It's 1.5L and rated at 128HP. Would any of you use it in a car? I mean, it sounds cool, but it's really just an economy engine.

There are a more than a few boosted D seriers engines. With minor upgrades wht will hanlde more than enough boost to keep your car fast.

Meh...I am a pretty big fan of the B series...I love them.
I wouldn't waste my time with a D
But that's me..and I know tons of people that love the D block..
What it comes down to here, is personal preference.

yeah the d15b vtec has 9:6 compression

I say, its too expensive for a 1.5l w/ vtec
A d16z6 could be had for probably less $ and has more displacement. The only thing that the d15b has going for it is a stock lsd tranny...

^nice. i wouldnt pimp out a D series motor. but then agian i once was doing that myself.

think of this: you buy a civic and you put in headers exhuast intake air filter cams. the basic stuff. then you line your self up agianst stock B H or F series motor. the B and H will beat you stock. the F series will keep up with you. go ahead flame me if you disagree.

so imo i would swap out the D for a B series motor. then agian the trend now seems to be all about putting h22s in civics and accords. check out the civic forum here. theres 10-15 posts on the H series swap.

An H-swap? Don't you have to alter your engine bay for that?

not really...just custom mounts mostly and then change the interior to use the cable linkage

just a lil bit... got the motor mounted in my frieds car, made the car look like 10 times smaller, waiting on turbo kit so the shop can install it... h22a with a turbo pushing 16 lbs of boost!!!! damn that is going to be fast. we also striped the interior, and made mounting holes for various gauges and also waiting on pair of carebou seats
