If you plan on swapping and on a tight budget, I would not recommend a custom turbo on your current stock. For one, it's not really that cheap to start a custom turbo project. It will still cost you around $1000 or more. At a minimum, these will be required:
-Custom exhaust manifold= $200-400 -Junkyard turbo (T3, TD04, TD05, T25, T28)= $50-60 -Downpipe and downpipe adapter= $80-100 -Intercooler (Starion, Conquest, Volvo, Saab)= $30-50 used -All piping= $150 -Boost dependent FMU= $80-100 used -Cone Air filter= $50-100 -Oil supply line= $30-50 -Oil drain line= $5 -Oil fittings= $20 -Piping connectors= $20 -Hose clamps= $15 -Various vacuum lines= $10 -Gauges= $120 There are still ways to cut these prices. For one, you can use a 88-91 CRX/standard Civic pre-cat headers that can be converted to act as your exhaust manifold. These header will fit all D-series engines.
