![]() What would you look at getting?
I think I'm going to sell the Si. Its been pissing me off lately and needs to be sold before the warranty is up(October). Its going into the shop next week to figure out why its burning so much oil(jsut had the entire shortblock & valves replaced about 10 months ago), look at a leak near the shift linkage on the tranny, fix the idle again(2nd time), & figure out why it grinds a little going into 3rd(2nd time). ![]() ![]() I don't really want to spend a fortune on another car(<$20k). I still want to stay in the import realm. Ideas?????

I did come across this 96 GST (CLICK ). Especially nice since it doesn't have the typical GST spoiler. I'm not a fan of spoilers....
And to go against what I said up there. Those SRT-4's are pretty nice. I'm trying to find a dealer that has one. Thought its at the upper end of what I want to spend. Not that I couldn't buy, I just want to be able to save some more money.

240sx with rb25 engine swap all for under 10G. Throw the other 10 into building up the block and upping the boost, and you'll have a streetable 400 hp easily for under 15000. Throw another 5 grand into exterior and styling and you'd have one of the pimpest rides for under 20 G.

Nah I'm not up for the project cars like that. I drive 25 miles to work every day. I can't be without a car for any period of time. I'm up for the basic mods & such, just no major overhauls.

If I were to get a GS-T/GS-X, I would get a 97-99, I am just a fan of that style headlights....
If I had the money now... $10k - $15k, I go for the GS-T or maybe buy a E36 328i (if I could find one for that price)... -Ducky

I think they'll give you one in CT and a bunch of other places... the si's didn't go over very well in LOTS of areas. some places can't keep them stocked though.
but I'd go gsx if your gunna get a dsm... also keep in mind the crankwalk issues those cars have... not exactly known for being a headache free car... but if you plan on dumping in a couple grand off the bat to get the thing done right so it'll be reliable it's a great platform.

I agree w/ infinity for the most part... the Q45 is niceish... I was thinking more along the lines of a lexus GS400 (early 90's one's always caught my eye).
HOWEVER if you want a second car with TONS of potential get a infiniti G20... they have the..... YES YES YES SR20DE motor in them... stillen and J.Wolf both offer turbo kits nitros ANYTHING you could ever want... they come stock w. lsd.. timing chain instead of belt TONS of little IMPORTANT things that honda (and most other car companies) skimped on.

Oh also just as a suggestion... if you plan on keeping this car till it's death then you should look into any places around you that offer theft recover cars... you can get SICK deals on NICE cars... there is a place around me that was selling 98 bmw 5 series for under 30... 3 series for as low as 18. Just make sure the place only gets GOOD cars... some places buy crap for nothing then put some shotty labor into them so they can make more profit.

That's one car I never would've thought about. I kinda like the look of those. SR20DE might help a little too. ![]() ![]() I'm trying to get a hold of the guy that has that GS-T. I wanna check it out to at least see what kind of condition its in.

The only problem with this is the payments tend to be a little higher since you usually cant get longer loans on older cars. $15K for a 3 or 4 year loan is a little steep.:o

I'm not even going to tell anyone how much I pay a month for my Accord. I am used to a very high car payment. I took out the loan and everything myself when I was 18 and I got f*cked on the interest rate because I really had no credit at all built. And I know for a fact that the IS will be cheaper per month -vs- my Accord because I have really good credit and everything now. |

I want one of those g20's soooo bad... my cousin has one... he doesn't mod it though... when he had money in H.S. his dad wouldn't let him...
But those things can be NASTY and they look SOOOO good. You could have a SERIOUS car with even 15-18k put towards one and parts... Like the WHOLE deal... you could have that thing DECKED out. damn... now I wish I could get one.

03 wrx isn't in the under 20k price range... maybe a used 01 or 02.. .even then it's got a LOT of stock problems that NEED to be fixed if you plan on beating on it at all. plus they're percieved a LOT faster than they are.

malibu's aren't THAT bad.. .course a guy I used to work with had a MAJOR fire in his trunk because of bad factory wiring in the brake lights... it was right around xmas too so he lost a bunch of gifts too.

Yeah, 20k is a stretch, although dealers are trying to get rid of '03s for the new '04 style, and they can be found new (no options) for between 20 and 21k. Really close! I don't think they're perceived a lot faster than they are. Pull off the line seemed about what I expected considering hp/tq and weight. And the pull through corners in the twisties was better than I expected (I'm not used to awd, thought). [edit] and the wagon has great weight distribution. |

a couple of months ago I could've gotten an 02 with NO miles still new on the lot for like 18 out the door... I have no money though... my bro was shopping and this place up the road still had 6 02's on the lot.
edit... oh and they are ugly ugly ugly... I don't think I could ever get over how ugly that car is. (imo)... and if they handle anywhere near as good as awd talon's then they should take twisties hard enought to send you out of the car. especially given the lower center of mass in the engine.

I looked at that GST today. Runs great. It does need some paint in spots. Also missing a lug or lugnut(couldn't tell if the whole lug was missing).
It has boost & a/f gauges & a BOV in addition to the other stuff . THe sound just made my heart sink.... mmmm pssst. Anyhow, I'm gonna keep looking. That guy is nuts if he thinks he's getting 9200 for it. I may go test drive it tomorrow anyhow. Just not sure I can dump that extra money into it for the paint, etc... Now if I could get the bank to give me extra $$$ rolled into this loan I'd do it.
