No, you are going to have to do plenty of other stuff to make that bad boy fit. You are going to need new motor mounts (try has sport), you're probably going to have to bash certain parts of your engine bay in with a hammer in order to make clearance for pulleys and stuff. It's a complicated swap. You are almost better off going with a B16 or a B18. You can get nearly as much power out of them with half the work on install.

there is a lot of room under the del sol hood, are you sure an h22 wouldnt fit? Still, he's right, it wouldn't be easy. Are thinking of trying this yourself, or are you paying someone to do the whole thing, cause you are talking lotsa cash...

if you're not gonna go with the h22...you would probably be better off with the b16...b18's are expensive...

you'll need to get the shift linkage if you buy from osaka motors more than likely, but overall they have the best prices i've seen

the h22 could fit in a del sol, but you would have to a LOT of cutting to make it fit. plus, it would throw the weight balance off so much that you could no longer steer the car. it would be fast, but it really isn't practical.

Dude you can fit a GM 502 in there if you have enough money. I would personally recommend a B16 swap for a few reasons.
1. Easy to locate a B16 donor 2. Cheaper then a B18 or an H22 3. Easier to install since some sols came stock with B16s so you can just buy the halfshafts and stuff for a B16 sol and install everything with little to no guesswork. 4. The B16 has just as much power potential as the rest in a more compact package. I have seen fully built B16s smoke the doors off built GSR integras and H22 equipped cars.

Well go with an LS motor swap cheaper and more displacement and if you want you can swap a b16 head later down the road.

I second delsolvtec. The b16 has just as much potential as the other motors and the ls/vtec. The sky's the limit with all the motors, it just depends on how hard/costly you want this swap to be.
As for fit, I know a guy runnin around here with a crv motor in a crx. Happy motoring. ![]() ![]() |

#1- **** osaka motors.
EDIT: DAMN swear filter... let's try this again F U C K OSAKA MOTORS ![]() http://www.hondaswap.com/forums/inde...=ST&f=4&t=3323 read for yourself. Pros and cons of putting an h-series in your civic/del sol: CONS *h22a is 60lbs heaver than a b18c with a/c power stearing ext.. *parts are more money, and harder to come by for cheep like its b16/18 conter parts *if you want to put forged pistons in you have to resleave the motor, i will explane why if you want me to but for now we will just leave it at that. *beacuse you must resleave for the pistons it make running anyhting over 9psi fairly expensive and a lot of work. *it is a little bit of a tricky swap to get in the bay of a civic. *to turbo you have to get slim radiator fans *when you shift a h22a with a stock transmition at redline you fall about 200 rpms out of vtec, so a vtec controler is a great idea, or go a little deeper in to the redline (indicated redline is 7,400. fuel cut off is at 8,200) *a bit of under-steer PROS * you have an h22a in your civic/del sol *you dont have as big of a no low end power and torque problem as the smaller honda blocks *old drag racing addage," there is no replacment for displacement" *with a stock motor with a catback exsaust and an fmax turbo kit pushing 8psi you get 250 wheel H.P. *you can bore/stroke an h22a to a 2.6 liter *i have seen 20 psi h22a's with 600 wheel horse power *Jun makes h22a parts now *you will be faster than most other people with a b16a swap ** you will be able to beat the piss out of civics/sols with b16a2's ALL that said- would i swap an h22 into a 5th gen? only if she was a trailer queen. B-series own the street for all around drivabilty and power potential. h-series own at the 1320 track where all out power is necessary and weight isn't much of a factor cuz A, you aren't turning, and B) your chassis weighs 1000 lbs. |
