![]() I know we have at least a couple that play on here. Need some advice.
I'm selling my XBOX. Some guy has offered a trade for it. Here's what he wants to trade(its an Autococker gun). Quote:
Now its been a while since I was into paintball, but aren't Autocockers expensive guns? My first thought was "what's wrong with it?". He said it has very little play time on it and he should be sending me pics here soon. Anyhow, I just wanted to get your opinions on it. Anything I should ask. I was asking $350 for my Xbox, 7 games, 2 controllers & memory card.

I just played yesterday
![]() I have an Autococker... a 2k1 vert feed runs around $350 I think. Benchmark frame is decent quality, dye stickies are great. I have a CP barrel for my Spyder and its nice (~$40-50). People have mixed feelings about the Gen X reg, but its alright. You'll really want to shoot it with compressed air, not CO2 ![]() What year is this thing? It could be an old mid 90s cocker... There were lots of impovements with the new 2k bodies. Sounds like you'd get a good deal either way though.

no idea here, but if the gun sells for 350 and the xbox is only 199 i think it's well worth it

Re: Paintballers....?

Dear lord, stay away from ANS products. I'm a dealer with national paintball, and I can get a 2k3 v-feed cocker with .45 for around 305 + shipping. Let me know if you want one. As far as purchasing cockers online, I just wouldn't do it. I was fortunate enough (with my eclipse cocker) that I had a good owner, and he wasn't just trying to dump another "cocker" on some unsuspecting noob. Remember, the cocker honestly only needs a roller sear, new bolt, and new barrel. I'd stray away from aftermarket "upgrades" as much as possible. my eclipse, uses the stock wgp sledge, wgp egro, sto ram, and a besales 3way, and I've gotta tell you, it runs smooth as butter. Oh, not to mention, I can get black draguns for about 110 + shipping also. So I guess what i'm saying is, if you REALLY want to get into it, get the cocker, but make sure you have a reliable wgp certified cocker tech or a store nearby (that can service your cocker on a regular basis), if you're just gonna play occasionally, a black dragun isn't half bad... i guess. ![]() Oh, another tip, once you get your cocker running nice (that is, after someone has timed-tuned it), please, please please please dont touch it. See if this guy you're buying from has any feedback also. |

And what other people said, try get a cocker that's atleast a 2k +. Finding parts for 99 and lower is just impossible. Anything under a 98-99 cocker is just probably unreliable as hell. You'd prolly have to do a major overhaul on o-rings and seals.

Alright. Well I haven't heard back from him yet. Guess we'll see what the pics look like. I'll try to figure out what year it is.

Electros are nice, but if you're playing for fun, they piss off your friends. If you're in a tourney, you can't use the burst or auto...

The only electro i would get would probably be a raced cocker, shocker, impulse, and maybe an angel. I've owned all except for a raced cocker, and the impulse, shocker and angel have performed very close to each other, although i'd say the shocker and impulse have far better accuracy than the angel. I bought a dark angel, and lemmie just say, it really doesn't live up to its hype.
As far as auto or burst, its really a waste of paint, because drop off becomes a problem as well as the kick from the marker. Not to mention you need a HALO B, which weighs close to 3 pounds just to feed the gun that fast. |

Em, I do. Not sure about you recballers, but a lot of the tourney players have tremendous respect for one another, and sure tempers may flare at times, but we're all pals.

Though I am not one, I have much respect for tourney players. Many recballers have bad attitudes, etc. and aren't fun to hang with. If I was actually good at paintball, I'd love to play tourneys, but I'm not that great. ( I don't play that much).

ah, those electro guns have too many problems. Seems like every game I'm at, playing or reffing, somebody having issues with their autococker. Buy tippmann and never worry about it breaking down on you! (if yur a recball player) tourneyball seems to be if you can't fling cases of paint at your opponent, your not "good" enough.

Hmm.... I still think it is an overall good deal. If you haven't timed a cocker before, you'll need to pay a little ($10-$20) to have it done when you get it most likely.

eh, not entirely ![]() And did i tell you my hatred for ANS parts? 3-way is so short that its hard to time, my miniram is so "mini" that it requires more pressure to move, putting more stress on it (my miniram started to leak after 5 months).. the only thing good that comes out of ANS is probably their jackhammer II and genxII. Their gx3 cockers are pretty stable also. Remember, ask him about the condition of the barrel, gun (scratches.. etc), and try and find out the age of the cocker. |

You can upgrade a tippman pretty nicely. While it wont be a quick as a spyder, cocker or any of those, it'll be a good solid platform. Ah, just me ranting obout the only gun I play with.

I don't get how you can put the sypders and cockers in the same group. Don't get me wrong, Spyders can be nice, but with an Eclipse blade frame on my cocker, I can shoot so much faster than my spyder, its crazy. Also, I'd broken one ball in my cocker, and it was 100% my fault for short stroking it. My spyder wasn't so graceful.

I didnt mean to imply that cockers and spyders are all in the same group. they're not. I just find them to be unreliable guns.

The only time I broke balls in my Spyder was when I used ZAP! paint. Nasty crap.....

that is cool that you are proud of your gun but it is fun to try new guns. i just think that there is no point in ever worring about being out guned, that is why i like electronic guns, yes they are a little bit more work but i think that it is all worth it. |

I'd agree, cockers are not at all hard to maintain, a little oil on the bolt (unless its delrin), a little in the 3 way shaft, and a little on the ram. occasional 1-2 drops in the ASA and you're good to go.

I really like the vert feeds better (just balances well IMO). You'll need a revvy and new tank if you want to start playing with that.
