MTV True Life
I finally saw that MTV true life: I'm a street racer - thing, and dayam, bunch of cars got flagged down, they popped the hood, saw the CAI, and since the guy did not have the tag of certification, it was illegal. They also got him for having a 'modified' exhaust and of course, his car was dropped too low. 22" from the center of the headlamp to the ground. he was at about 18.
And this is in san diego (where it was filmed)... i'm not too far from there, and hell, a lot of cops live around me. i hate it. |

by what i could tell for the show if you dont have proof that it is compliant with regulations than you could get fined.
Most of the people getting pulled over had custom CAI that, according to the oinkers, where used for racing only, i guess they know everything. i think that AEM is perfectly fine, i know mine has a regulation code on the top half. |

you've got me, but I think california enforces this policy to the max. I'm pretty sure if an officer in say tennessee pulls you over, a "under-the-hood" check isn't always done. Most of the time here in california, its almost always done (people in modified cars.)

Import fans have a good sense of humor ![]() Cop: *talking to camera* Headlights need to be 22 inches off the ground.. Cop: *Measures* They're 18 " *Camera cuts to guys in the integra* Guy 2: HAHA yea! We're 18 inches hehe.. i thought that was funny as hell

i've seen it but seriously i doubt the integra has 22" stock from the ground. they said that the car was 18" and i never seen springs that will drop more than 3.5" plus that integra didn't look like had more than 2" drop

efjay is correct, CARB only applies to California. However, every state has its only rules and regulations concerning matters like this. Usually you can get on the official homepage for your state and run through the laws concerning vehicle modifications. At least on Virginia's homepage you can. |
