				Tranny problem
Hey there everyone...I need help. Some advice would be nice. Ok here we go....The other day I was racing another civic. I was doing alright off the line and then when I was shifting into 3rd my tranny wouldn't go into 3rd and my gears grinded I had to drop the clutch (and the race) in neutral and then try again. It werked. But it's done in a few times since when I'm really revving high. Am I not putting the clutch in far enough, and shifting too fast. Or is my syncro mesh going in my tranny. orrrrrrrrrrrrr what do you think? I can't figure it out. I think it's human error personally, well actually I'm pretty sure like 99.9% sure it's human error. And if it is would a new clutch help or a short shifter. So my gears won't grind when I shift too fast. Bekause I would really like to know how to make the shifts better and smoother and faster. Thanks.

				 | If your shiftin properly, then its probably the synchro. Some trannies need to take their time.. Most of the cable linkage trannies.. But it wouldnt really grind for that reason. You should always go all the way with clutch. Shifting at 1/2-2/3 throw is very bad.

				 | Id make sure you have the clutch pushed in all the way too.. You may not realize it and are letting out on the clutch to early.. Just pay close attention to it in the future and see if it start doing it regularly..

				 | Yes, I have that problem alot myself....usually when going to 3rd as well. Almost always this happens when I am excited and caught up in a race, because I am halfway dropping clutch and trying too hard and fast. I think you would know if your synchros are failing though, imo. |

From what Ive experienced... when you kill your syncros.. Its hard to shift most of the time.. Very hard to get in gear sometimes..

				 | Yeah because when I had my *ahem* mustang we replaced the tranny. The day I got it outta the Tranny shop....WITH A NEW TRANNY and drive shaft I was going about 80 km down the freeway and My drive shaft disconnected, broke my tranny into 3 peices.(front back middle). and damn was that a pain in the ass and expensive to fix.

				 | But I don't do it anymore. Nor do I drink that much anymore. I haven't done any drugs for like 3 years. Good for me hey. And I don't smoke. Espically in the civic.
