Removing Window Tint?

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but what is the best way to remove it? This is the crappy walmart film tint we're talking about. I've heard of using a razorblade to get it started and then just peel it off, but what about the defroster grid thingy? Can't use razorblade there. Also, how to get rid of the adhesive residue? I've heard of using ammonia? Wouldn't this eat the defroster grid? I'm not doing any thing till I know. thanks.
