Hey Kyle-

I don't think that you could possibly go wrong whether you choose to be a cop or a mechanic. Pick the thing that you would like to do the most. It sounds like you've put some thought into going to a trade school and pursuing a career with Honda. Put your mind to it and follow your plan. If you're determined to be a good mechanic, I have no doubt that you could do just that. It will be so much easier for you to be great at something you love. Right now, I'm studying computer engineering, and I'm not sure if its what I really want to do, and that makes it hard sometimes. You know you'd like to be a mechanic, so go for it.

Just remember that, even if the people here are only "online friends", they can be friends just the same that will listen to you. Hang in there and everything will turn out alright.

Trevor

hi kyle... i agree with 94accordex. if you want to be a mechanic, then go to school for it. it's hard to suck at something that you really have your heart set on doing. you still have a little while before you really need to start thinking of what to do for your career. for now, try to enjoy high school and your friends and being young while you still can. i didn't, and i regret it so much. i started my "career" at 17, and now wish i had taken a little more time just to have fun and enjoy my young life. but i found what i love to do, even though most people don't think it's the greatest job in the world, it's what I LOVE. if being a mechanic is something YOU'LL LOVE, then do it. i wish you the best with your tests and all that. going through depression is really hard to go through, but you will get through it. you got friends at least here online who will listen to you and try to help you out in any way we can.

Heres a number one rule for you when choosing a career... Chose something thats not a job, but a hobby. If you get something you can go to work everyday and love doing it then you wont ever think twice about whether you are in the wrong profession.

So try to find something that you love and stick with it. Cause if you just pick something to do because it "sounds cool" you could be in trouble later.

On another note, vocational schools are great. Im so glad that I went to one, it makes everything so much easier because they place you on a job. Which if nothing else gives you a start in that field and gives you other paths later.

And another side note: The power of positive thinking. Don't set yourself up to fail by saying you know you're going to suck at being a mechanic. If you put half that effort into feeding yourself some positive thoughts, you will have much better results. You can do anything you put your mind to. If that's really what you want to do, then do it! Don't let anyone stop you. The most successful people are the ones that had doors slammed in their faces, were told they would never succeed... but their own determination and attitude made their own success happen.

That's my two cents

Chris

I agree with everyone that has posted so far. You're 15...you have your whole life ahead of you. Live it up!!! I've been working full time since I graduated hs at 17. I've been doing that and going to college full time. I'm going to be a secondary ed teacher. I'm pretty sure it's what I want to do. I love the satisfaction of helping someone learn something new. Makes me feel worthwhile and I love to help people. Then people ask me what I'm going to be teaching...and I tell them Geography. Then they laugh and ask why. Cuz it's what I love the most. I'm very interested in other parts of the world and sharing that knowledge to willing minds....and the ones that aren't willing to know about it making them interested in it. That's the most fun part is gettin other interested in it. Trust me....money doesn't buy you happiness. So don't let someone pressure you or influence you into something that you don't want to do just cuz you'll make more money. If you want to be a Honda mechanic then do it. Don't say that you are gonna suck at it. If you have good teachers and you are willing to learn, you'll be the best damn Honda mechanic there is. And then all of us can come to you to get our cars fixed! Cheer up my friend...and listen to Chief (he's really smart ;-) )a positive attitude goes a LONG way. And it draws other people to you. No one wants to be around a "party pooper". So be happy...good luck with your test and I think you know that if you ever need to talk to anyone, we're all here to back ya up and give ya support. Hang in there...things will get better.
