Need Help!!!
I know this is in the wrong forum, but there's so few of us, nobody goes in the other ones, also I know it's a long read but i really need some help.
00 civic ex, was turbo'd, now returned to stock (need to pass emissions) 2 nights ago, eveything was fine. I'm back to the stock ecu and everythng. The next morning i went out to start my car and i could hear a bunch of relays clicking and the car wouldn't start. With the key in the run position, only the seatbelt light and the brake light would illuminate on the dash. When i tried to start it i could hear the fan come on, and nothing would happen. The battery voltage is at 12 volts. So i push it in the garage, checked EVERY fuse, and they're all good. I took out my turbo timer, and my VAFC (since i don't need either of them really), and double checked all the wiring involving the ECU and the Ignition, everything is good. Then i followed the service manual test procedure to test the ignition switch, and it's working fine. I then decided to test the PGM FI relay as per the service manual. That too is fine. I then tested the wiring harness going to the PGM FI relay, and that's fine as well. I also tried hooking up my P28 to it (to make sure the ECU wasn't cooked) and I got the same results. However one time i bent the wires really hard and it was normal! So i thought the problem was solved, i go to start it, and the lights on the dash went out again, and the relays clicked, and then the light slowly lit a little. So i'm assuming there's a lose connection somewhere. The only other thing i have found that is wrong is on the middle connector for the ECU there's 2 brn/blk wires and they're both grounds for the ecu. One of them has continuity and the other does not. I cleaned the engine and chasis grounds, and i even found the grounding point for those two wires, and cleaned that too, and i can't get continuity on that ground wire. I visually inspected the harness and i can't see anything that could have pinched or severed it. So i'm kind of clueless in that respect. But my only hypothesis right now, is that not all the wires in the ECU are connecting/getting ground. All the others have ground and power. It just pisses me off that one day, it doesn't want to run when it's perfectly fine. Especially since i haven't fucked with anything in weeks. Complete bullshit, but if any of you guys have ideas of other things to test of look for, that'd be awesome. I don't know what i'm going to do if i can't figure it out since it's my daily driver and i need to get to school help!!

heh the one thing you didnt check is if you left something on all night and killed the battery. get someone to push your car and push start it then let it run for a little. then shut it off and if it dont start again then im not sure

jump start it. its as easy as that. if not look for the grounding point on your intake manifold. happened to me before. that bolt came loose and would not start for the life of me.

battery is fine, 12V (first thing i checked duh). Yeah i checked the ground for the engine harness, and cleaned it with a wire brush, but i'll check that one too. Thanks for the input stefan

Maannn. That used to happen on my 99 civic. I still dont know what the hell was wrong. I thought it was the alarm but it wasnt. Check your battery. It might be dead.

same thing happened to me lots of weird noises clicking relays bright and dim lights all over.....and I thought it was the same thing your describing , just because my battery died I fucking freaked out really bad, I stared pulling out my steering wheel plastics, consoles, etc.... and all it was, is a dead battery..and it said 12.7V on my meter.
1st THING GET A NEW BATTERY!! then you can shit ur pants you said you bent wires and one ecu ground wire has no continuity to ground, get some aligator clips and jump it. |

yep jumped it, no luck. I'm wondering why that wire doesn't have ground though, and i really don' wanna rip the engine harness apart. there's not reason why this battery should be dead. I performed an electrolyte test on it all of 2 weeks ago and it was good, and i topped it off. And even with a near dead battery, the car will work in the "run" position.
