It's gonna be awesome. I had my doubts as far as Joaquin Phoenix playing Cash, but holy shit can he sing like Johnny. Reese Witherspoon will likely suck since she hasn't been good in any movie she's been in ever, but not every movie is perfect. Even if the movie sucks, I love Johnny Cash's music and story so much that'll probably outweigh it's shittyness.

I always thought it was interesting how just about everyone at least likes Johnny Cash. I grew up on metal, punk, and hardcore but I love his music. Even my mom likes his stuff...and she listens to candy ass folk music for the most part.

i don't really see the big deal w/ his music, he was supposed to be some sort of rebel or something but all his music sounded like old fart country stuff. except the NIN remake, that was neat.

well he came out in the 50's everything was different back then, him and his band had a completely new style and he was singing about drugs and prison that was rebel then.

Exactly...if you can't understand why he is so important, then that's probably why you don't like his stuff. Early Cash is gold...before he got clean. Nobody else was shooting TVs in hotel rooms back then. He was punk rock 20 years before there was punk rock.

music still sounds like old people country even if it was recorded in the 1800's and was about killing children while high on opium and butt nekad. ahahahhaha!!!

i guess the problem is that when I listen to music I listen to the sound and not the words/message. but I see what you're saying.
