Me vs. a Civic

I never post in here but I figured I would this time. Anyway, I driving back to my apartment from dropping my gf off. I come up to a light and a '97 ish Civic Ex pulls up next to me...no exhaust, no rims, nothing but a stock Civic coupe. The light turns green and I take off normal and shift into 2nd at 15 or 20 mph when I hear this douche bag's engine start to wind. So, I got on it and shifted into 2nd at 45-50, 3rd at 85ish, and 4th at 110 before I shut it down....so while I was in 2nd, he was at my bumper, 3rd he was about 3 car lengths behind, 4th he was in the county behind me.....I don't understand why people want to race when they don't have shit to back themselves up with.........
