diy project
sorry if this is a repost on here. but what is the minimum that i would need to piece together a turbo kit for my d16y8. im basically on a tight budget but want to run some boost in my car. also does anyone have any used or cheap a/f, boost, oil press gauges and/ or a dual gauge cluster pod for the 96-98 civic ex.
i know the obvious things to buy: turbo manifold oil lines injectors smic /piping bov and i have a vafc already is this gonna be sufficient enough to run the fuel. and if thats all im using for the fuel do i need the missing link check valve? please help me out and if anyone has any of those parts or parts i need let me know. thanx |

Define your "minimum". Really at low boost 5-6 psi, you dont need to upgrade your injectors and even intercool. Use an FMU and check valves to boost and it will work.
Now the question is, would it be efficient? I say no. Would I do it? Hell no.... How much boost are you planning to run and what HP goals? Are you planning on beefing up your internals? There are two ways to set-up an AFC to control your fuel under boost. 1) With stock 240cc injectors: you will still need an FMU with 10:1 or 12:1 disc and fine tune your AFC on the (+) side on RPM targets. 2) Use injectors with a minimum of a 400cc rating. I use a set of DSM 450cc's. Set the AFC on the (--) side. This will control the voltage input of the stock MAP sensor to the ECU, making the ECU think that the car is not boosted and allow fuel compensation through the stock ECU. This is the notorious AFC "hack". Goodluck. Please use the search button here. I have made several posts on these types of question. Use this thread if you need clarification. I just really have no time to explain all these crap in detail. My website can also guide you to have a decent boosted D16. |
