What's up with Mustangs?

Why are people so fascinated by Mustangs? I'm talking about 88 to present. Now a 69 Shelby I can understand, but why does everybody want a GT mustang? I'm just trying to understand.

I'm not a big fan of the later Fox body styles ('87-'93) or the SN95s ('94-'98). The "new edge" mustangs were kinda cool ('99-'04) mostly because of the hood scoops on the GTs. Then came the Torq Thrust wheels.... I will always love the "four eyed" cars the most though ('79-'86) (four headlights...four eyes...whatever). I'll agree that the late 60's/early'70s cars were much better than the collective '87-'04 models, but to each his own I guess. Some people love those '87-'93 GTs...I personally think they look boxy and gawdy. I'd much rather have an LX 5.0 of the same year. But I have to say my favorites will always be between the '82 GT and a '67 Fastback. So in short...no...I cannot explain why people love '87-'04 GTs.

One thing that I like about mustangs is their sound. There is no other muscle car thats sounds that mean. I used to have a 68 cougar with the little 289, but it sounded awesome.

They are probably the easiest car to mod and make go fast. About $3-4k will get you 12's easy.. a bit more for 11s. And that's without nitrous.

my friend has a 5.0 (not sure what year) but that thing pulls off the ground off the line. it is crazy fast took a ride in it, every shift you can feel the frame twist. I had to hang onto the rollbars to feel safer lol but damn what a rush. Supposed to be one of the faster stangs in my area

I had a 91 GT 5.0 and I loved it. It was by far the fastest car I owned and I regretted the day when I sold it to my friend. I love those bodystyles.

I got a friend who lives at the coast, he's got a 91 fox body. It looks completely stock, but when you look at the dyno papers you see it's definately not stock. It's got right at 600hp all motor. Then he's spraying 200. A little much I think. It's built like crazy, it's his daily/drag car. Talk about sucky gas milage.

Not always. If you pick your mods right and tune it right then you should still be getting respectable mileage. When I was rockin the turbo hardcore (still haven't gotten a replacement for it yet), I was getting mid-teens around town (like 15-17mpg) and a little better on the highway. And the car was making around 450hp off boost and a little over 650hp at full boost, 91 octane, tuning set on "kill".

the geekz0r (11:04:16 PM): so 2nd pulls like 1st in the 5speed, 3rd is like 2nd, etc.
PortugeeTex (11:04:26 PM): so whats 1st like then?
the geekz0r (11:04:49 PM): 1st is like hitting a cheeta in the ass with a tazer
PortugeeTex (11:04:53 PM): lmfao

Well...by that I mean it had some NOS (the company, not NAAAWWWZZZZ) octane booster so the octane was closer to 97 or 98, timing bumped up to 14 degrees, remapped the fuel curve a little, and set the boost at 18psi. In short...you'd NEVER catch me driving with that tune on the street.
