learn to use mIRC, a lot of servers are no longer in existence, mostly because of fear, but you can still find things if you look long enough. by the way, find an older version of mIRC, cause the new one is shareware, nagware, etc.

ive been using kazza lite for a while, i dont think you have to pay for it cause its basically an illegal hack of kazza. if you use kazaa look at the bandwidth collumn, if it is 1600 and over you will get a corrupted version of the song where you hear a hi-pitch squeal

All of the file sharing programs connect to the same basic list of servers. So you pretty much get the same servers and songs with most all the software.

Earlier this month the Supreme Court overturned the ruling stating that the ISPs had to turn over IP address of the people the RIAA was able to download songs from. Meaning that it is a lot harder for the RIAA to continue to prosecute people.
Now that you know that little tid bit of info, it is 1000 times easier to get your ip from IRC, I wouldn't recommend using that at all.

as for as getting IPs from mIRC, it probably is true, though I dont know, never tried. I highly doubt the RIAA would bother with trying to see who they can download from there. Its not exactly user friendly like all of these other programs, and not a big threat to their profit margin. You may be right though...

And also, whats this about an illegal hack of kazaa? First of all, don't use "hack" and "illegal" in the same sentence. Illegal activities and hacking are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum. What you meant to say was a "modified version of kazaa by a third party" (assuming that is the case, that kazaa lite is not an official release)

Sorry to rant about that, but I hate to see the proliferation of ignorance when it comes to hacking.

You don't have to pay for Kazaa Lite...but Kazaa shut them down for the time being since they copyrighted the programming language and Kazaa Lite just improved it and without the spyware and adware.

sorry, but once again: you can't copyright a programming language, you copyright the program that was written. That would be like copyrighting the English language.

All they really needed to do was call it a different name.

That file would be a lot larger than most servers will allow in one email. You'll have to get it directly from him like through an FTP or messaging service like AIM.
