what sort of paint would one want to use to do this?
Im thinking high temp cause its near the rad, and only 2 coats max...what do you turbo folks say? (not that Im doing it...i am without boost) |

why would you do that ? it just decreases the cooliing capacity of the fmic

yeah thats why Im debating the whole thing...
I really would prefer to have a black one though, and Ive seen it done where it really didnt change the efficiency of it |

I have heard something about galvanizing IC's black, but I haven't looked into it thoroughly. Does anyone know about this? Supposedly it doesn't really effect heat transfer.

There are some paint out there that will have zero to minimum effect on cooling capacity. H-T has some threads about it. I didnt even bother really looking hard into it since I like my shiny radiator

painting it would be pretty foolish. esp to paint it black, black absorbs all the light that hits it, so it would gain more heat. but since you're moving... yeah, i think someone needs to do some sort of testing to figure out if anodizing (i think that's what it is that colors metal without paint) will decrease it's efficiency.
but you're not pushing 1000+cfm of air at 25+psi, don't worry about losing cooling unless you're using a really small fmic with nominal boost |

I found some zero whatever paint at my autozone (holy crap! found something good there)
and it says spray at an angle onto intercoolers, a/c, and radiators only 2-3 coats needed and recommended I might buy it and try it out on the old rad and see what that does |
