If its a Jetta that was assembled in Mexico(like most VW's in the US are) then you'll probably have alot of problems with it, like a friend of mine did...his turbo crapped out, his power window regulators broke repeatedly and eventually a window just broke because of it, and some other stuff. Luckily he got it fixed under warranty and then sold it after having it at the shop for the 4th time.

If you don't mind the embarassment of driving a Jetta...go for it

All I know is that VW parts are expensive. I had a GTi back in the day and it cost an arm and a leg to get it running again after it had problems.

For more info, you might want to http://www.vwvortex.com and ask in the Jetta section. They might be able to help you out a bit more.

WTF are you talking about.. The 1.8T produces more power then the civic and 4 cylinder accords. Plus they can handle between 350-400 on stock internals.. I wouldnt call that a girlie car, unless shes one fast chick. :o

well it's not that poo, but it's something i wouldn't like to have. Plus they upped their class quite a bit in the past few years and they became so overpriced.

And RR that makes more power than a 2.2 accord because it's a turbo. slap a turbo on my accord and surely i can make more power than that thing. look at their 2.0's. they have less power than a 1.6l civic (115hp 122ft lbs of tq). i think the civic makes 127hp and around 116ft/lbs of tq but i'm not sure

I can't believe people who like honda's are making fun of vw's... that's funny..

NO... we don't drive chick cars... or underpowered overpriced shiot boxes either...

jetta's are WAY nicer looking than new civics imo... and they're MUCH MUCH faster with WAY WAY more potential.. even if you swapped in a b-series.

Hondaman.. Who cares how it makes more power... Aslong as it does.:o I can pass gas and create more power then my civic.

Wow. So many VW haters. I drive an '01 golf frequently, and while it doesn't get as good of mileage as or pull quite like my civic at the higher end (weak 2.0), it sure is nice to sit in. I think that car with the 1.8 would be quite a nice daily driver with better modability.

I definately agree it's sad that vw had to resort to turbo's (with a bigger block) or v6's to compete but they do now and even back in the day... my sister had a gti and it pulled way harder than my civic did stock...

Guess I'm kind of an elitist, I'm not too big of a fan of Hondas that carry the Honda name, but i love the ones with the Acura badges. I dunno for some reason I prefer cars with real potentiial that weren't made to be reliable, gas saving grocery getters.

You'll pay less for the civic though. I'd take a turbo civic over the Jetta, and I hate civics with a passion.
