well the tranny controller is in the ecu for the 4th gen accord. i'm not sure where it is on the 5th gen but i'm sure they are about the same.

Eh, maybe I'm dumb, but what does this do exactly? Does it determine shift points, etc.?

yeah it determines when to shift and how the 2 shift solenoids are engaged. also determines if the tq convertor is engaged or not, and controls the clutch for the AC. (4th gen)
