Wow...tough talk for a guy with (at the moment) 3 posts. If there's one thing I've learned from branching out onto other message boards it's that with the right amount of work just about any car can be fast (relative to stock, that is). Stock vs. stock you're probably right. A GSX probably would kick a Civic in the ass. But Civics have some potential for their size and motor availability. And for that matter...GSX's aren't that great if you think about it. Lemme run down to the local Ford dealer and pick up an '03 Cobra or a Mach 1 and we'll see who comes out on top. Now I'm sure you'd whine that such a race isn't fair...but look at the arguement you're making. GSX's are kind of cool cars but they aren't the end-all-be-all car so please, for my sanity's sake, don't knock other cars that have potential.

Not another one..

Lets compare a couple facts..

Take a new GSX (I know there arent any GSXs anymore, that aught to tell you something right there.)..Take a new civic... A new GSX use to cost around $30K and new civic, about $18K. Insurance is a killer, they dont get that great of gas mileage, they arent that reliable, they are a b!tch to work on. I have several friends with DSMs. They are cool, but they arent anything special. It basically boils down to what you like, and what you want.

Why did you waste your money on a GSX when you coulda bought a Formula1 TA?

Go back to your DSM board and stop trolling here. If you want to learn something good. If not, we can arrange for your disposal.

you know the big point is that the damn gsx has a turbo stock and the si doesnt...so if the dsm didnt beat the honda...theres something seriously wrong with it...and as much as I know about their reliability...it wouldnt surprise me

Quite true, but that is not why we modify Civics. By the way, have you just come to this board to start trouble? If you have, you should leave.

first off, arguement != argument.

second, the new GSX's were not 30k...IMO, the eclipse is just overall a better car then the civic.
i have never had any problems w/ my eclipse thus far. dont get me wrong, the Si isnt a bad car, but im just saying i would rather own an eclipse...

the difference between a Turbo Eclipse, and a Civic Si...isnt very far to begin with.
certainly not like comparing a ferrari and a neon. therefore your argument is invalid, next.

i would put a turbo eclipse/talon way above a civic si. im just saying your going to a class of cars under you. it was an overexageration to make a point. you own a suppioror car to a civic... theres no getting around it. AWD turbo>fwd n/a i know the potential of a properly working 4g63, and apparently you think all honda peple dont. i sugest if your looking for a fight go check out supraforums or rx7club. maybe you should look into racing wrx's and lancer evo8's when they make it over. find someone thats actualy a race. i dont find fun in picking on cars weaker than me, too bad you havnt got the memo that said the world grew up

Any car with a Turbo is cool, add all wheel drive to it and it just makes it even better. A GSX isnt an econobox like a civic is. It was never claimed to be either.

As for the GSX being better then a civic, in a performance aspect your right. But for an overall car, it just depends on your taste.

The WRX is better then your GSX IMO. That does mean that the GSX is crap, it just mean that I like the WRX better.

dude your so gay, number one my friends eclipse had been in the shop 18 times before i even had to get a checkup for the first time. Second, just because they are faster stock doesnt rule civics out. They have a stock turbo and thats it, you spend 3000 on a greddy turbo kit, and work on the engine a bit to the point where a civic souped up couldnt touch it, then you have a nice car. thats my opinion.

dude... not to bash you, but 3000 into that car and you wont touch it. my friend has *edit* $500 *edit* into his and he's running 13.9. stock internals and a 100k mile turbo.

Its all a matter of what you are into as an enthusiast. A civic just happened to be the best choice for me at the time when i bought it. I needed a reliable car, that got good gas milage, and a civic was the best choice. Now, i want to get reliablility and make my car more fun to drive - therefore, i want to modify my civic.

This is true.. Stock turbo cars have a big advantage from the factory since thier motors are built to handle boost. Usually a couple hundred dollars and cranking up the boost a little will drop an easy second of the time. It goes the same way with about any stock turbod car. You cant beat them in terms of power per dollar for mods..

That is true, but then you need to remind yourself why you bought a Civic. You got it because you wanted a reliable car - DSM's do not fit that description. BTW - one could put a greddy turbo (2k with Intercooler) on their Civic Ex and set the boost at 7psi - that would level the playing field (and the price range)between the civic and a turbo eclipse.

Of course you think your GSX is the shit, you haven't gotten crank walk........yet. I like the 2G DSM's a lot, and I am thinking of getting one for a next car, but with my luck, I'll get ****ing crank walk, or the tranny will take a shit when I get a bigger turbo, etc etc. Speed costs money, no matter what. There is no way around it...........................I agree with you on the point about "what's all the fuss about civics...." But you can make some of them fast for a reasonable price, it's just however you want to do it..................size of the pockets win the race.........my goddamn mullet mobile won't be going much faster until I change everything over again and get ino the tranny, rear, and driveshaft as well. I'm broke as ****, so I will continue to get stomped.......

A GSX is no better a car than a Civic and vice versa. What makes one car better than another is purely a matter of perspective and opinion, not fact. You could argue all day that a 360 Modena is a better car than my '88 Volvo but it would be a meaningless waste of your time to do so, cuz I'll just tell you to come back with a 360 Modena that has a lot more than 200k miles on it and we'll compare mechanic and gas bills. You'll argue that your 360 outruns my Volvo and I'll argue I pay a hell of a lot less each month. You'll claim you've got a better car, I'll claim I've got a better car.

Place right arm to right side, twist toward the back side, get a firm grip of hair, remove head from ass. Rinse and repeat as necessary. CAUTION: This could lead to baldness and further complications as some heads are too far up their respective asses for this technique to be sufficient for head removal.

You could put a $2K on a civic, and boost at 7 psi. Youd probably be running Mid to high 14s if your a decent driver..

Now think about it from this perspective. If you bought a honda for reliability, you have just compromised the reliability by adding the turbo. You now probably have more reliability from a stock Turbocharged car.

A 1.8L VW motor can put out nearly 400Hp on stock internals. Try that with a Turbocharged Honda Civic on stock internals, it wont happened because they arent made for that.

Im not saying civics are bad, They arent.. Civics are decent little cars and do the job they are intended too. Like I said before, it all just depends on what you like and what you want to accomplish. If you dont mind spending a ton of money to make a stock NA car fast, cool..

The moral of the story is, instead of Bashing eachother's cars.. Why dont we try to evolve the sport together so we all can enjoy it.

Dont Turbo eclipses run mid 14's? I thought they did. And yes, i couldnt agree more with your point - do what you want with your car, dont let anybody try to convince you otherwise.

Yes a stock one will run higher 14s. But the key word is stock. The thing about it is, you still have room for improvements unlike the civic which you have to start dropping compression and such to increase boost over 7 psi and keep it pretty reliable.

True, i agree, but dont turbo eclipses cost at least 2k more than Civics? If so, then by spending 2k on your Civic, you have just given your car the performance of a turbo eclipse for less money.

Now, not that i agree with this perspective, but i do understand that the eclipse is made for the turbo as the Civic is not - and one could turn up the boost on their eclipse or talon and have a faster car for virtually no money.

Where'd the DSM trolls come from?

Yes the Eclipses are a "god-send". I'm not sure what the world would do without them.

Yeah, for the first half of the race.. You would have less money in it.. But by the end of the race you would either be slower or have more money in it.

Just because he likes other cars doesn't mean he's "turning against" us. I like cars other than Hondas. I just hate most of the drivers in them.
