Spark Plug Gapping

Well, so now that I know that I should not have put Bosh Platinum +4 plugs in my '99 Civic EX, I have another question for you guys:

Is it easy to set the gap on new plugs? I am planning to just get a set of copper OEM NGK's, but I don't want some fool at the dealership charge me extra to put them in for me. Bosh ones were easy to put in because you don't have to gap them. They have four electrodes. I want to save money and do it myself. I know I need that little gapping tool, but then, how do I use it? I believe that the correct gap for my engine ("d" series VTEC) is 0'44. Should I attempt it myself or have the shop do it?

P.S. I am sick of snow, here in Ohio, I want summer!!
