1990 Honda Accord Alternator

Has anyone had to replace the alternator on a 1990 Honda Accord? The Haynes manual is vague at best. Does the driveshaft need to be removed?

well it isn't that complicated. loosen the belts and then there is one large svrew to take out and your alternator will come out. just remeber the wires. i don't use the haynes anymore because of the vagueness it has

Hey Hondaman,

I did take out the BIG bolt and also loosened the adjusting screw to the point I could turn it with my fingers. The alternator would not BUDGE. I hit it with a hammer and block of wood, it would still not budge. I bench press over 300 so there was plenty of force on it. It is currently 3 degrees here in NH and I the sun is down so tomorrow is another day..but is there another mystery bolt holding this sucker on?
