the earth is round and it's night only the part that is not exposed to the sun. on the other side should be daylight, plus there are a lot of cluds around the world everyday, and in that picture it seems to be all clear. anyway the picture is cool so i got is as my background

The way they most likely do those shots is take it piece by piece when it is night at the part of the world they need to take a pic of. Then just bring it all together as one pic
