I'll probably try my hand at it again tonight..

could any of the probs I've described be caused by switching the + and - of the speaker wires? what I mean is 1 speaker is set up fine and then on the other speaker the wires are switched.. will this matter?

Also got to thinking about it- is it possible there is a dome light wire and clock wire that would be run through the radio? I just find it odd that both of these should go out at the same time.
