i was thinking about this. im not going to do it but i was curious.
If i went to a junkyard, found a supra with a working engine but body in bad shape how much could i get it for u think, and how much to make it a sweet ride again. |

how much on both sides depends on the damage. tough to give even a broad estimate.

dood i got a 89 supra single turbo and its a blast to drive, of corse it knocks now, i was too hard on it, donuts = dry pavment, redlined for long periods of time ect.. hell i drove it for 2 years and i dont think i ever shifted unless i was at full boost. now it just sits in my basement. from the looks of it, its hard to work on, lil space in the engine bay.
I'd like to do a lil work to it and make it silly fast. |

All depends on the condition.

i think it kinda hard to find the newer model supra from a junkyard, if it does i dont think you will be able to find an engine as good as the one in the fast and the furious. Even if you find out from the junkyard, you must have plenty of cash to spare and hella time.

But looking at what they did, it would depend on what you have access to. They bought the car, maybe around 5 G's. They did all the work (in the movie). So if you had a few friends to help you, had the time to fix all or most of the body panels, plus painting. If you did the work, maybe about 2 G's in body parts, depends on what you have to replace or fix. Plus say about 1 to 2 G's for a GOOD paint job, unless you can do it yourself. Then if you just fixed the engine, not all crazy turbo, but a few upgrades, maybe 1 to 2 G's. If you go turbo crazy at least 3 to 4 G's more. Your looking at 10 to 15 G's, maybe more. Now I'm just saying IF you access to a shop + friends to help + a decent shop with fair price's + you do the work. Now you also have a wrecked title on the car. Witch means you will NEVER get what it's worth. A bad title hurts the value, but a wrecked title kills it. For 15 to 20 you should be able to buy a used one. I've seen them on the Net with 60,000+ miles and nothing done for 20.

Dude, you forgot the frame work... most likely if it's in a Junkyard, the frame is bent... and if the frame is bent... THEN GOOD BYE .... I'm sorry but few people have the time/patience/and skill to fix a bent frame.. and a repair shop will cost at least another 5K if it was in the condition that the F&F Supra was In...

i wana know where u can get a good apint job on a car from a junkyard for 2000... 99% of junkers are either rusted, or the pints pealing, or something.. and wet sanding dosnt fix that. and in the movie, the engine wasnt in good shape at all, they rebuilt it remember. and heres the price list on what its gonna cost you to fix it up AFTER the cars running and fixed.
Engine Performance $7200 Turbonetics T-66 ball bearing Turbo, Q-trim compressor, built by Performance Factory $1800 RPS Stainless steel/HTC coated custom header $1275 100 HO Nitrous Oxide system by NOS $1590 Greddy front mount intercooler $795 Greddy Power Extreme exhaust system $1100 HKS Vein Pressure Converter $1100 G-Force Engineering Racing ROM $2100 Powerhouse Racing cylinder head work (port/polish) $3500 Chrome-plated valve cover, intake manifold, throttle body, turbocharger, turbo heat shield, auxilliary heat shield, fuse cover, relay cover, cruise control cover, ignition module cover and all brackets Sytling $6200 Lamborghini Diablo Candy Pearl Orange Paint $1100 Bomex front spolier $950 Bomex side/rear skirts $1900 TRD Composite hood ADR aluminum bi-plane rear wing Tires $2200 19-inch(!!!) Yokohama AVS S1 285/30 and 255/35/19 Wheels $4100 Dazz/Racing Hart M5 Tuners, 19-inchers Brakes Stillen/AP Racing 14" front racing brakes, 6 piston caliper, with slotted/drilled rotors Tranny $6200 Gertrag Six-speed gearbox with Stillway sequential adapter Suspension $1900 HKS Hyper Damper coil-over suspension with pillow ball mounts $1100 Stillen sway bars Interior Interior $1000 Sparco "Pista" Racing seats, custom matched $300 Carbon fiber dashtrim by Trimmasters $1500 MFS custom-built roll cage, chromed $350 Sparco steering wheel In car electronics Bitchin' Sound System $1900 Clarion VRX8271 in dash TV/CD changer, remote controlled $650 Clarion VMA 6481 6" wide screen tv monitor in passengar airbag $650 Clarion VMA9181 3.5" monitor in trunk area $550 Clarion DSP9300 Digital sound processor $450 Clarion CDC 635 changer $450 Image Dynamics 6" speakers $500 2 Image Dynamics 12" woofers $1500 2 Phaze Audio TDI1500 Tube Driver amps $1500 1 Phaze Audio TD475 Tube Driver amp $150 Sony PSX $500 Sony PS2/DVD $700 Custom built electric-blue neon tubes for sound system back lighting $1100 Minolta 6450 VHS-C camcorder $8000 system design and fabrication by Audio Options in Torrance: 310.763.6008 yeah the paint job was almost 7 grand yeah the body kit was 4 grand. im sorry supras arnt cheap to work on, they arnt hondas. if you think buying one from a junkyard is the cheapest way..... well its not. your better off buying the highest mile on you can find IF you wana rebuild the engine. if not, bite the expensive bullet and buy a low mile one owned by an older guy.
