I drove one as well, and I think it felt really good. If I remember right, it has more torgue than the 99-00 Si's. It is way roomy, and a lot of the exterior styling seems to have come from the 92-95 hatchback body. Anyway, just a personal opinion here, but they are a pretty car in some ways, could be improved in others. The shifter is awesome because you don't have to reach far from the wheel to grab it, although it takes time to get used to =)
