i got a beast under the hood

i'm kind of ashamed of this but i finally managed to get some hp numbers for my car with the g-tech pro instrument. After i finally figured it out i gave it a try and guess what numbers it came up with ??? A blazing 57hp (ouch). i still need to try my 1/4 time and 0-60 times, but that's after i get the new suspension installed and a new motor mount.

Lol, you didn't do it right then. 57hp??? Do you know what your car weighs exactly? Also, was the unit aligned perfectly? I've never tried the hp feature on mine, but I'll have to give it a shot.

Just a note, on the 0-60 and 1/4 it will tend to read a little quick, but it is very consistent. I'd like to hear what you get when you do it.

well the problem was that i started from a red light going on a freeway entrance ramp so that might have affected it because the acceleration was something like Acceleration*sin of ramp's angle.

anyway it measures the hp something like

HP=Speed * Acceleration * weight.

also it includes the airdrag and the weight i set it at 3250 lbs( the car is 2976lbs+ me 135lbs+ a shit load of crap that i have in my trunk).

57hp? Nah...you have more than that. The g-Techs are notoriously inaccurate. It has to FLAT. No inclines or declines while its testing......

Or if you can find a metal place they may tell you what it weighs too. Most places that pay per pound for cars or metal should have them.

How do you measure hp with it? I don't have a manual for mine, and I haven't tried. I want to try it today or tomorrow though.

well turn it on, go with the button to the last left position, and select accel. The it will display P 0, and you have to push the button and tilt the divice up until you get the correct weight, then release the button, and put it straight. when it is leveled you need to push the button and it will display -GO-. Just take off, but not like granny style 'cause it won't star measuring. after it starts it will display the current hp, and for no accel you get 0. measurements will stop when the car comes to a halt

Ok, thanks . I read that you can just pull through any gear to get the hp rating, you don't need to go from a stop...

So you haven't even tried the 0-60 yet?

Oh yeah, forgot you were in a big city... I wouldn't mess with it either. Not worth the ticket at all.
