i believe there's also other relays in that circuit as well, so don't go on the believe that it's either the sensor or the motor. But i may be wrong, and i'll check the service manual later when i have some time.

If you jump the connector for the ECT switch and the fans come on there is NO OTHER PART OF THE SYSTEM ENVOLVED.

THE ECT SWITCH IS BAD.

That or your car magically NEVER heats up to over 150 degrees or so.

The only thing my recomendation could have misled him to was replacing the fan motor...

and dime to dollar it's one of those two parts anyway.

And I'd hope that he'd just direct power the fans prior to replacing it on an assumption that it was bad.
