Thinking about selling the 05 Civic SI
I have a step brother that will sell me his 1992 accord ex for $500
I love my new si but my insurance is killing me now with the last ticket i got. Im thinking sell the si and grab up the accord. Needs a new tranny, the engine only has 80000 miles on it. Maybe ill just grab up a JDM H22 with the tranny. |

I found the setup for 1700.....motor has 22000 miles on it and tranny is in excellent condition. good deal?

I think if you try to sell your 05 civic you are going to get your ass handed to you.. Did you finance it? If so you probably have a decent amount of negative equity.

No matter how you get rid of the SI you are going to lose money. Try shopping around for your insurance. I can't be worse than what I was paying. When I first got my 04 Accord, I was paying $586 a month. Rode it out until it dropped down to $384 a month (last 3 months) and then switched companies and now pay 198 a month. |

yes, i will lose money, but I think it would be a good idea the price of the accord is now only 100 dollars....car is in excellent condition except tranny. Make that my tuner car and buy a truck in a year when I pay off the new engine and tranny

if the accord is only $100 then it would probobly be cheaper to buy the accord, drop insurance on the civic, dont drive it, pay it off till you can sell it for what you owe

You can't completly drop insurance on a financed car. You have to still keep some insurance on it.
But none the less a decent idea |

thought on a car that is financed you need full coverage?
and in Florida if you own a car and it's not in a garage where no one can see it, it must have insurance..not sure how it is in any other state

if you can sell it privately you may stand a chance to get what you owe on it. just consider the down payment i assume you made to be your loss. you need to have at least a minimum deductible for most insurance companies, normally in the $500 range for comp/collision. so you're still paying more for the car no matter as long as you keep it. you should have thought about this before you purchased it. don't forget the maintenance though on a 13 yr old car. yes its a honda so its pretty much a diy for anything but you're still paying out of pocket as opposed to a warrantied 05 vehicle. with all the work you'll put into that accord to be driving a vehicle with a jdm motor that you have no idea of its history, you'll be spending prob in the 5-8 grand range over the course of the next year to have a car that is still not warrantied, has no value, and could break at any time. i say tough it out and make sacrifices in other areas. and get some better insurance.

The only way you won't lose money on what is owed on the financed amount is if you find an idiot that doesn't know what kelly bluebook is.
Once you drive your car off the lot, it depreciates instantly. I would not sell it because of insurance. |

Well, i couldnt refuse, I bought the accord, it was only a hundred dollars. I will put my 05 SI up for sale in auto trader next week.
Its got a 100k mile warranty on it. Silver, your right, I should have though about it first.......it was an impulse buy. I love the car but It was a stupid move on my part. Even with the negative equity on the si I will have the new h22 swap and transmission, installation,and the car for 6k...assuming i take a 3k hit on negative equity.financing worked out already. Just need to sell the si....anyone want one? j/k |

I found a jdm h22 setup at a local shop for 2100, only 22k miles on it. but they will not install it for me because it is not the stock motor. I need to talk to someone who has experience in the frankenstein motor swaps...

FYI I dunno what honda warrenties are like, but for Audi, or some, only part of the warrenty is transferable.. not sure how that works or what the deal is with it, but might look into it. If you gimme the 100k warrenty for your car I buy it for 10k. Lemme know.

i have an idea.. take the engine and tranny out of the civic.. put it in the old one. then ditch the civic and report it stolen!! problem solved
