I think the best I ever heard was my sophomore year in highschool when I actually worked up the nerve to ask the girl who starred in the wet dreams of every guy in the school to home coming. This girl was a cheerleader, class president senior year, normally only dated football player (I wasn't one) basically so far out of my league it was impressive that I was able to stand next to her without protective eye wear on...

anyway the conversation went like this

me: So (insert name of unbelievably hot girl here) what are you doing for homecoming?
her (with that puzzled who is this guy and why is he talking to me look on her face): I'm....uh....just... going with.... some friends....hey I gotta go now....

it should be noted we were walking to the same classroom which we were about 10 feet away from at the time...
