And how exactly should I force people to take charge? This is a philosophical thought, not a concrete one. The irony escapes me because it isn't there. All I can do is recognize these inadequacies and ask questions. I can't pick someone up off of the couch and force them to vote or get involved or do something...anything. I remember my Comp II class a few years ago. My teacher had service learning as part of the curriculum. Each of us were to volunteer at a certain amount of projects to round out the class. Sure, you could just not go, but you wouldn't get an A. You wouldn't believe the number of people who bitched and moaned about doing a few hours of volunteer work. But why? I've often volunteered with no better reason than it's just something to do that happens to benefit someone else. If you don't ask questions you'll never have any answers. It's not worrying about how someone else runs their own life...it's about how eventually their inability to run their lives will someday effect you. And Ren...I'm glad you agree...but you and I obviously have a vastly different viewpoint of what this "war" is accomplishing and whether or not a sacrificed life is worth it. Then again...that's a different matter altogether.
