When I was 16 I took my car to midas for some brake pads, which also had a lifetime warranty... I had that car back in there every 6months for new pads. Sure, the pads were free, but the labor was still $65/hr and I always got a nice little add-on to the bill of at least $40 for "shop supplies".

Fuck midas...dont waste your time....and money
And why would it be illegal to put on a used muffler? If it is then thats just stupid and I know a whole shit load of people breaking the law then.
