Google is stupid now

Why does google feel the need to link to other search engines?
Whenever I type in a request, my results ALWAYS start with something like, "Find more on _____ at 2020search.com/info.com/clearsearch.com.ebay"

REDUNDANT

If I wanted to search somewhere else I would do that. But no. I came to GOOGLE. And certainly, if I wanted to look on ebay for something I would go there as well.

clearsearch and 2020 are spyware programs!

Oh, and I tried searching for ____ -CrappyOtherEngine.com....and all it did was post the same 3 w/ "find more on ____ -CrappyOtherEngines.com at CrappyOtherEngines.com"!

I've noticed the same stupid trend...more money in their pockets I guess. Those are called "Sponsered links" - I.E. the crappy search engines pay google to list their response first.

Actually in my business often we pay search engine to have advertising run there. We've run them with google on and off and they're very successful.

So to answer you're smarta$$ question, YES.

Its free people, the internet is filled with alot of bad stuff. Deal with it, dont make anymore of it then needs be. Best search engine in the world is probably doing something right....

way to answer my question in a "smarta$$" way, yourself.
I wasnt asking if you pay for them to link to you, I was asking if you would pay to use it to search.
The only thing theyre doing right, with this, is making me stop using them.

As far as not making more of it that needs to be, I think bitching is justifiable. Especially online because it means absolutely jack shit here.

AND as far as advertising goes...I find that about as great as honda-tech having advertising banners for osaka motors when everyone there knows it sucks ass.

Hey I have a great idea for hst now! Lets just have the main forum pages but once you click them to go in for info...youre taken to honda-tech or han! It will be great!

I've not had this problem. Only time i've had other search engines come up with results is when spyware is loaded up. I always get this mysearch bullshit, just to lazy to run my spyware software.

Try adaware. My friend used SpyBot and it didn't fix the problem, but AdAware did.

yeah...spybot is only good for cookies
bazooka is the best free thing out there imo...
it updates every 3-5 days and finds things that adaware doesnt

If you are talking the results that appear in the colored boxes at the top or the links on the right, those are paid advertising links. Sometimes they'll take you to a merchant's page or you are taken to a page with search results. Sometimes when you click, it'll take you to another pay-per-click search engine's results where they will swap the lower cost keywords around to show the higher priced keywords and make money that way.

The reason they say something like: "Find more on _____ at...." is because it better targets the ads by having the product in the description since the clickthrough ratio has an effect on the rankings in google. The more clicks someone gets, the higher up they appear. I actually do the same thing and a lot of listings out there.

Adware and bazooka are two differnt programs. They dectect differnt things. Run adware and your problems should be solved.

And bazooka isn't accurate at all. It listed 4 things that i have, and i know for a fact that i do not.

if bazooka says you do, I really think you should check your registry...some .dll file is probably there

adaware is crap, imo, but for fun I ran it...google still does its thing. I knew/know that its google thats junk...not my machine

^ I just remembered what happen once. I had this program change an .ini or .cfg file for IE and it would always redirect my activity through another IP. This slowed my system down a lot and I bet it's the same issue you're having just newer technology. I personally suggest that you download and install Netscape, see if it does it there. If it doesn't then you can just add/remove IE, erase associated files, then download and install from MS website. If google is crap in Netscape then I'd just go free program crazy comp search for google hacks/freeware/spyware/adware/virus/worm sort of stuff..

Clear cookies and downloaded and temp files too. Check IE settings, make sure nothings been messed with, maybe turn security way up and see if it flags anything.

I have the feeling that you all think that searching automatically directs me elsewhere. That is not the case.
I search and more search engines are in the results.
I do NOT have ANY spyware.

No it DOESNT have to be my computer.
You know, I should just reformat, simply for the pleasure of making it painstakingly obvious that you are wrong.
In fact...I'm going to do it right now

Pdiggs, you're saying that google selectively chooses to just display this stuff to you and your friends? I dunno man, that seems a little weird since the rest of us aren't getting those ads.
