Did it only start happening after replacing the timing belt? An off-timing will do that, such as rotating the distributor cap or adjusting the belt too far off. A buddy of mine rotated his distributor cap too far on his '92 and it did that, ran fine anytime but at idle.

If that's not it, follow the advice of the guys above. They know more than me.
