bpv might save your engine...but i dont really like em too much...ld just chop off the cai section and run filter from there when it gets to the rainy season

just use a rubber connector and 2 ring clamps to connect the pipes

nope, chop the pipe and put the filter on the short end when it rains a lot, and then connect the pipes again with the filter on the bottom in the dry season

ok so y does everyone h8 the BPV, it has saved my engine 3 times or so. esp the other day in hurricane issabella
how many hp does it lost *supposedly* by having it and y does everyone say that u lose the COLD AIR feature by having the BPV. the car still sux 90-95% of the air from the filter and not the BPV, even under WOT, so i dont understand the strong dislike for the BPV hell i even think it looks sweet with the BPV thats my .02 Dan |

I think you lose about 3-4 hp with the bpv. That's what they say. "Your performance will be affected." I do actually notice a difference on my sol with and wo the bpv. I just leave it off. If there is water on the road, the best solution is to not drive through it!! If it means saving my engine, I'll stop and turn around. It pretty low, so I really try to avoid deep water anyway. And I live in southern Louisiana, so I know all about rain.

I have no bypass valve on my iceman and drive it all the time in rain through puddles etc... never had so much as a gurgle...
My car is stock ride hieght though... Almost all the power from the aem is because it's one piece... as soon as you cut it and put a rubber joiner in it... it looses velocity... with the bypass valve (because it's not smooth like the rest) also F's up velocity/flow.

so, even if i put a rubber joiner on the intake where the BPV is i will still lose the hp?
the AEM didnt fit my car properly when it was one peice, it only fit because i cut it in half, and had the BPV in place. is it worth it to get a rubber joiner and only have BPV in when it rains heavy? will u really feel the difference with and with out the BPV? i mean comeon ur talking 2-4 hp difference, u cant possibly feel that can u? |

No, the rubber joiner does not have a whole in it (which would make it act like a valve) - so you would not loose power from a rubber connector unless it has a whole or leak in it. Tell me if this is true If you go on a long trip and your car has a HAI (hot air intake - ya know, "short ram") wont you loose power cause everything under ur hood is hot and you are just suckin up hot air? |

does anyone have or has anyone seen a dyno for the infamous AEM CAI BPV... i want to see exactly how many whp the BPV loses
aem claims minimal, which mean 1-2, does anyone have a DYNO sheet for the AEM CAI? my AEM CAI is on D16Y8 *97 sedan EX SOHC VTEC* also does anyone have the V2? is it worth the doubled price to gain a few extra hp ie 1-2??? AND YES I SEARCHED PDIGGityDAWG haha ![]() |

To tell ya the truth, the CAI aint that much better than the HAI.
only 1-3 hp difference, plus with the CAI you risk messin up ur car with no bpv, and when you put the bpv in, you basically make your CAI a HAI. |

i fail to see the big deal.. if i didn't already have an intake id probably keep the stock one and just drop in a K&N
i think the differance on ANY car listed in this thread, with ANY intake are ALL minimal.. if its less than 10hp.. who cares.. |

The only intake that i acutally like is the Comptech Ice Box - cause it is different/safer than the stupid metal that we all have.
