"when to use it"? All the time! for anything from digital recordings on mix boards, to recording lectures in class, and to the obvious 5hrs of music on 1 80min MD in mdlp4 (and yeah other things too)
MD is the greatest! (yes this is an md plug  )most people ive met dont even know about it period...they have no clue what it is |
