17's will DEFINATELY slow your car down...

and although the wider/stickier tires will help handleing the last thing you want is MORE unsprung AND rotating mass... it will NOT benifit handling at all...

big wheels are for LOOKS and LOOKS only... the only excuse for big wheels is big brakes.... and even then it's generally over-kill in the brake dept.

Save money get 16's (I have 15's but they might not look right on an accord (what year?)).. a 16" wheel/tire combo will be WAY cheaper then a 17" one.
