like highlander said if you wax the wheels you literally only have to wipe a rag over them hot or cold wet or dry and it just comes right off...
no wax won't damage your wheels... call the manufacturer to be sure... but it should be fine.. you can also use wax on your windows.... works like rainx only a little better if you ask me (bigger beads so you don't get blinded by the trillions of beading streaks of water). Oh and I use wax on just about all my rubber/plastic trim.
