It piggy-backs to your ECU and is just a digital read-out of your RPM's and speed. Apex-i makes a few similar products like a VTEC controller (where you can set at what RPM you want VTEC to engage), boost controller (for turbocharged cars), and AFC (air-fuel controller) that also have the RPM/speedo.
I believe this model will also tell you your highest speed and highest RPM on a recall. If you ask me, it's a waste of $230. If you want those features, just splerge the extra few $ and get the AFC or VTEC controller.
