you should dyno your car and look and see exactly where your peaks are at. then take into account your gearing so that when you shift, you'll know where you'll be in your powerband to continue to accelerate. shifting at the end of your powerband as opposed to right before redline could put you in a position where you'll be in the next gear before the power band thereby losing the power that you'll need for acceleration. or by shifting at red line you may be shifting into the tail end of your power. research your own car's chart cuz everyone is different
