With a classic car, the most important thing is the body. If the car is a rust bucket, restoration is costly. I would never buy a rusted car. Even small visible amounts are dangerous. Mechanicals don't really matter, the body does. This is your #1 concern. This is a rare car you're looking at, so parts will be hard to come by, with the exception of the drivetrain............Get some pics of it. Have a good look underneath the car, however, since he says it's a "fixxer upper", it might be a rust bucket. If it is, stay away.

They're hot cars. Once again, like my car as well, it's always cheaper to buy a car that needs no work or restoration and is ready to go like in this ad I found here; doing the work yourself is costly and time consuming. But then again, that's like any other car out there, that is the hobby ..................
