10,000
Thats your budget. $10,000. What can you put together?
Its mostly going to be a daily driver but I'll hit the drag strip about once a month during racing season. Should I just blow the load on a 99 Civic Si? Or should I find like a 97~ish Civic and a decent Supercharger, or even a Turbo package? I need mostly reliablility, so an 89 CRX is probably out even if I could find a shop to do an engine swap. But seeing as how I'm in northwest ARKANSAS, there is NOTHING. So, to be in this sport you have to do it all yourself. Thanks guys. Also, what about a supercharged '01 Mazda Protoge? I could probably find a decent one for about 8 grand and drop the other 2k on a blower package. |

you could buy and make an early generation eagle talon run 10s for less than $7k including the cost of the car, and it comes with a turbo already

5th gen civic, b18c engine swap...that should cover it...as long as the civic is cheap enough...and yeah swap it yourself there are lots of how-to online
but if you dont really wanna do it, then I say go for the SI...its a great platform and then maybe down the road you could turbo it...if one were so inclined |

5th Gen Civic? Ok. Is that the 92-95 versions? I'm still "iffy" about which years.

The problem I have with a swap is this:
apartment living = no garage So, the only way to do a swap would be to take it somewhere and have it done. I know of no performance shops where I would trust an engine to be swapped in properly. PS: if anyone of you are in Arkansas, let me know where I can look |

Id get an old (95 or so) Nissan 240SX for around 3 or 4K and do an SR20DET swap on it.. And do some mods with what ever is left.

bubbles???..is that the monkey?
what RACING RICE said...i would definitely choose a 240sx with an sr20det swap over a civic swap...torquey and its already got a turbo...yum... ![]()

go with a 5th gen hatch and heavily mod that and u could still be under ur limit which is $10,000. i wouldnt worry too much about an eagle talon, the thing might break down on the way to the track cuz of its great everyday driving and dependability! go with Honda!
