Which Civic!?!
Allright I havent been here long but i have been reading alot of your posts how to's and just general info. Now I leave this to you I want to get a fast but stylish civic (Hatchback or Not). I know I want between years 92-98, becuase i have seen all these and like them. Now I also want VTEC, so I am up to anything you can throw at me about these years and your personal ideas about the cars. Also anything about cool body kits or anything BLITZ (I LOVE BLITZ) for a civic for these years! PLEASE HELP ME OHHH GREAT HONDA STYLE FORUMS PEOPLE! Ohh yeah I am looking to spend no more then 10k on the car aftermarket parts price I will worry about later.

yeah I'd go with Jason...92-95 hatchback si...my friend had one in black, very nice little car and fast too...he had intake, headers and exhaust and it was pretty quik....their pretty cheap now that their basically old but I think their the best civics in my opinion...i really like those hatchbacks...

well if you like the hatch and want vtec then, yep, gotta get the 92-95 Si hatch...its the only ones thats got vtec here in the states...'cept the new si of course... you could of course get a nonvtec hatch and then swap the engine for a b18c1 (integra gsr) and then turbo that...the price of the car (w/ very high miles)and engine should come out to or maybe even less than 10K...this is of course all speed more so than style...but as most of us around here...thats what we like

Well.....I dont liek the fact that you decided on the HB SI.....because thats the majority of the ruling. I, myself am searching for a new car and seem to find good deals on HB's never driven one...kinda like'em...not sure though...i'm tryin to find a lot with one to test drive so i can bid on ebay or just put it into my plan....I'm not sure what i would say i like the best...I think i'm settling on a 92-95 Civic...cause good choices for swaps that are direct boltins. But....if i had the money....i'd get the newer SI's....the engine is there....good looking car....good aftermarket support.
Just don't know if i'd like a HB....i see some and love'em....but some just look like woman without an ass.....my girlfriend said that lol. up to you in the end......GL....always look for an old one with good body and do a swap |

I dont think theres a 92-95 hb VX...there is however a 92-95 hb CX which is the lightest one of all...so if you get a hb cx and you have the money it'd be pretty good to swap the motor... |

CX is the lightest one but the vx is already wired up for vtec. engine swaps would be easier in the vx just for that reason. A few question for you wAnTtOsTrEeTrAcE. Are you mechanically inclined? Do you have a basic understanding of how a car works? are you willing to get a lil dirty? Are you ready for the experience of a life time and gain a priceless amount of knowledge? If so go with either the aforementioned civics(cx/hx) but don't spend more then $3500.00 (and thats being generous) If your not look at spending at least $4500.00 and up for a 92-95 Si remember what makes the Si heavier then the cx-vx is A/C pwr window, locks, sunroof power steering and sound deading material. Granted a VX or CX may come with this optional stuff besides the sunroof but they are all removable. If you do remove the power steering do it right, don't mean just pulling off the belt, remove everything i.e. pump, rack, lines an reservoir. reason being if you run a power steering system without pressure you will blow the seals in the rack and the pump. Plus you'll have to fight the rack and pump when steering. Pick yourself up a manual rack out of a cx dx makes it easier to steer

CX=2108 VX=2094 Granted there isnt much of a difference, but the VX IS lighter without additional options. Reguardless.. The VX is a much better candidate for a swap, and this we do agree on! ![]()

I have never seen such a thing as a 88-91 Vx. As far as I know there is only DX, STD, Si, and HF for CRXs. Thats USDM though, I'm not sure about euro versions, or true jdm ones.

any fourth gen civic would be my number one choice. of course im biased, but hey.
I think a fun project would be to build up a 4th gen civic sedan. not exactly pretty, but now one would expect it. |
