What are some of the top rated, high quality amps? Specifically, I need an amp that will put out 400rms at good quality sound.

I always say get a JL audio one. there good quality amps...either that, or MTX, they're good also

ive never had a problem with rockford amps

I would recommend Rockford as well...they are powerful and you can't kill em.

under $300 makes it tough.

all of these have a pretty high MSRP but you should be able to pick them up for right about $300 if you look around

Orion XTREME 375^2 is 375 x 1 @ 4ohm underrated

Harrison Labs Audio Engine AE-400.4 is 400 x 1 @ 4 ohms WAY underrated

fosgate Punch 400s is 100 x 2 @ 4 or 400 x 1 @ 4 and not my best pick, I'm not a huge fan of fosgate

I've seen refurbed Phoenix Gold T500s for under $300 those are 500 x 1 @ 4 ohms great amp

$300 is quite a bit limiting, but I'd look around on ebay, thezeb and sounddomain and see if you can find anything you like. I just picked up a brand new last gen kicker ZR-1000 on ebay for $419

so deals are out there

You could have a few more options with a mono block amp if you had a 2 ohm load.
