ok.... i had this great idea of chirping 4th gear because i was squeeling 3rd, so i get on this back road, and just take off.... 2nd i smoked, 3rd i squeeled pretty bad, at about 90-95mph(top of 3rd gear) i go to slam it into 4th as fast as possible to keep rpms up, and stay well in my power band, well.... i throw it in A gear and dump the clutch, clutch bit wonderfully, shot my tach well above 11000rpms(our estimates are about 12500rpms), i emediatly realized i just grabed 2nd gear, and put the car in neutral(didnt stall supprisingly) then 5th gear, crused to the end of the road, where i soon realized i had NO... and i mean NO low end power. valves sounded like a.... well, alot of badness, i drove to the mechanics(hey, car was still running) and droped it off. well this was a friday afternoon, so they didnt get a chance to rip into it untill monday. well... 9 retainer bolts backed off, came off, 6 stayed in the head somewhere, 3 fell through my main oil line down to the oil pan, well thats what the hoped, only 2 went down. one "chilled" somewhere between the valve and the oilpan. they ripped apart the engine, found it, reassembled everything, couldnt get the car running right cause the dumbasses didnt understand the concept behind adjustable cam gears, then finaly got everything hooked up, and it was running perfect. i now think its not running perfect, but its been 8 months, and well.... i cant really prove it was something they did. what pissed me off about the whole thing, was they quoted me 400, then they needed a new timing belt tensioner, so it was upto 600, i said ok, then one of the valve guides was supposably messed up, tacked on more money, then they kept having little problems here and there that added upto 1200. if they would have said 1200 from the get go, i would have bought a JDM longblock, or a built head. so yeah... i missed 4th gear and it cost me $1200
