what was the lift on these?
Was he using higher grade springs to prevent the piston and valve mating (to stop production of little baby parts)?

It looks like someone set the timing wrong...or the cam was too big. Unless the cam(s) actually broke (something I've never seen but I'm sure it's happened to someone at sometime), it's probably not Skunk2's fault. An engine is like a computer...only as smart as the person using it. Engines and their components can't make their own decisions. That's a shitload of damage though. I hate internal engine work.

looks to me more like it was a timing issue there, not the cams or valve train's fault.

that's why i am inclined to think about the timing issue: exactly the firing order: 1-3-4-2

vtec lobes must have been too big for his application or something. just doesn't sound right to me. It seems skunk 2 knows a lot more about building engines than we do since they build 250hp NA b series when called to do so, so something couldn't have been right.

Precisely what my next question would've been.

Highly doubt it was the cams fault. To my recollection Skunk2 makes some decent shit...They worked with my buddies B16 that is fully built and has had the shit kicked out of it for 3 years now...
