depends on what it is. If you need a new compressor your looking at about 1k$. so it can get pretty damn expensive.

it really depends on what is messed up. you might have just a leak, you might have a broken condenser. go have a diagnistic done, then pick the parts at a junkyard for dirt cheap, and have your cousin install whatever is broken for you

you could just need a re-charge... there's freon in there that is what actully cools the air so you could be out of it...
course re-charges aren't cheap either...

heh that's the r134a system and the older cars have a r12 system which needs to be retrofited to work with the r134a coolant, or you could blow things up.

It's better to have the experts do what ever needs to be done on a few things, a/c included. Too much to easily go wrong and too much $$ if you mess something up, if they f**k it up, it's on them.

saying that your "ac is out" doesnt explain very much......so there could be about 3098475398475 things wrong with it.
take it to a mechanic and have it looked at. |

Have someone PROFESSIONAL look at it for the $60 bucks or whatever... all AC work is pretty dman easy. Find the problem and decide from there.

after reviewing my Helms manual and finding the price of a new compressor. I got ripped. I took it to the dealer so i expected it. But damn. I could have done it(replaced my compressor) for like at most $500. $313 for new compressor + paying for a new belt and other little things + paying to have it evacuated and recharged. Oh well i had the work done back when I knew nothing about cars.
Please learn from my mistake. Buy a helms manual and never pay someone to work on your car! |
