Kicking myself
I dont know why I didnt research this beforehand...
I bought a set of MrGasket hood locks a few weeks ago. Theyre pretty neat. The locking mechanism is quality and everything seems to be really fancy and well planned out. Today I decided to look for some installation tips and some reviews (yes I know, shouldve done that before I spent the money...dont say it). I found 5 threads on h-t alone that had people using them. "Cool" I thought...that'll help. Of those 5 I saw 3 different cars where they had failed and the damn hood flew open; crushing the windshield and other crap. Anyone wanna buy a set of hood locks? Theyre brand spankin new, just PDigg-Painted flat black...... Security....not safety. |
your hood doesnt latch on its own?
|
for the cf replacement
I dont trust it to hold on its own...steel latch or not |
is that a known problem w/ those hoods, that the latch will rip out? that'd suck.
|
that sucks. i don't like mr gasket products anyway except their ACELL DFI line
|
Forgot to latch pins
http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=893737 H-T user Bryant Former Hood-lock user... ![]() There were a lot more...but these were the ones that said the most to me Like..."Dont use hood locks" and "Make sure theyre latched..." |
damn... that would suck to be driving down the road and your hood fly up into the windsheld.
|
Theyre in the classifieds now
Remember..."security not safety" |
lol , my hood stays down fine without hood locks...
|
youre braver than i am
|
I dont know man, Its not going anywhere. When i shut my hood i have to push back the latch then push down then it locks in place. The guy that put it on did that for me it works great! I have pictures now the picture forums
|
even if it latches solid, i still wouldnt trust any non-steel hood w/o pins
|
i got those gay ass ricer pins. work but are ugly.
|
my buddy in cali just said he knew someone w/ some hayme gunmetal pins that he'd give me.
I might already have a buyer for these things too |
what about mugen pins?

yea my lockpins were weak. broke during install. so im back to ugly ones that arestrong and work. |
I wouldnt spend $45 on hood pins...but thats just me
|
^true, I wonder I how good the quality is... better have a lifetime warranty for 45 bucks.

I particularly like the $1500 rollbar. Nice touch...bastards. Honestly though...with a steel latch I imagine that even problematic hoodpins would work. |
