[The living room. The boys reach the sofa and hop up to sit on it. Chef's parents sit across from them on the love seat. An uneasy silence follows]
Chef's dad: Well, aren't you crackers just cute as the dickens?
Stan: You're Chef's parents?
Chef's mom: Yes, all his life.
Kyle: We have to talk to him!
Chef's dad: Well, he should be out now directly.
Chef's mom: Oh, he's so excited about the wedding now.
Chef's dad: Say, would you crackers like to hear about the time we saw
the Loch Ness monster?
Stan: No, that's okay.
Chef's dad: Ooh, it must've been about seven, eight years ago. Me and the little lady was out on this boat, you see, all alone at night, when all of a sudden this huge creature, this giant crustacean from the paleolithic era, comes out of the water.
Chef's mom: We was so scared, Lord have mercy, I jumped up in the boat and I said "Thomas, what on earth is that creature?!"
Thomas: It stood above us looking down with these big red eyes,-
Chef's mom: Oh, it was so scary!
Thomas: -and I yelled. I said, "What do you want from us, monster?!" And the monster bent down and said, "…Uh I need about tree-fitty." [a long silence follows]
Kyle: What's tree-fitty?
Thomas: Three dollars and fifty cents.
Chef's mom: Tree-fitty.
Stan: He wanted money?
Thomas: That's right. I said "I ain't giving you no tree-fitty you goddamn Loch Ness monster! Get your own goddamn money!"
Chef's mom: I gave him a dollar.
Thomas: She gave him a dollar.
Chef's mom: I thought he'd go away if I gave him a dollar.
Thomas: Well of course he's not gonna go away, Nellie! You gave him a dollar, he's gonna assume you got more!
[Chef's house. Thomas is still telling the story…]
Thomas: And that was the third time we saw the Loch Ness monster. Then one time, I believe it was July-
Nellie: August.
Thomas: -August. There's a knock on the door. I open it, and there's this cute little girl scout-
Nellie: And she was so adorable, with the little pig tails and all.
Thomas: -And she says to me, "How would you like to buy some cookies?" And I said "Well, what kind do you have?" She had thin mints, graham crunchy things-
Nellie: Raisin oatmeal.
Thomas: -Raisin oatmeal, and I said "We'll take a graham crunch. How much will that be?" And she looks at me and she says, "…Uh I need about tree-fitty."
Nellie: …Tree-fitty.
Thomas: Well, it was about that time that I notice that girl scout was about eight stories tall and was a crustacean from the protozoic era.
Nellie: The Loch Ness monster.
Thomas: I said, "Dammit monster! Get off my lawn! I ain't giving you no tree-fitty!" It said, "how about just two-fitty?" I said, "Oh, now it's only two-fitty!! What?! Is there a sale on Loch Ness munchies or something?!"
Nellie: Lord, he was angry.
Thomas: Damn right, I was angry!
Nellie: Not you, the monster. He was about to kick your ass.
Thomas: Aah, shut your mouth, woman!
Stan: Uh, could you just tell Chef we were here?
Thomas: Sure. That crazy old monster [Stan, Kyle, and Kenny walk out] Now, then the fourth time I saw the…
[King Jimmy's Buffet. A banner spans the front of the restaurant, saying, "Clsoed for Wedding Rehearsal Dinner Party." Chef, his family, Veronica, and other guests are present. Soft jazz plays in the background.]
Thomas: Could I have your attention please? [the guests quiet down and the music stops] Tomorrow, my son is gonna get married to a beautiful lady. [sniffles] I'm very happy for them both. [sobs] Ooh there I go! I told myself I wasn't gonna cry, now.
Chef: It's okay, pop.
Nellie: Thomas, you're gonna get me going now. [sobs]
Thomas: Oh, I remember when Chef was just a three-year-old little man. He came running up to me with a big smile and his little chef's hat on, and he said, "Poppa, poppa!" I said "What do you need, Chef, my boy?", and he said, "…I need about tree-fitty."
Nellie: …Tree-fitty.
Thomas: Well, it was about that time I got suspicious. I said, "Chef, why do you need tree-fitty?" He said, "My imaginary friend Goo-Goo the dinosaur wants it." I went to my son's room, and sure enough, there was the Loch Ness monster!
Nellie: Oh, it was scary!
Thomas: I said, "Dammit monster! You stop bugging my children now! We work for our money in this house and we don't give money away!"
[King Jimmy's Buffet.]
Thomas: So I chased the monster down the street, you see…
[First Church of South Park. A banner above the lower cross reads "Congratulations Chef and Veronica." People are streaming in for the wedding]
Kyle: Ah man! I can't keep my eyes open. [Cartman is nodding off, too]
Stan: We can't fall asleep. We gotta nail that song. [turns to Cartman] You got the tape recorder, Cartman? Cartman?? [taps him]
Kyle: He's asleep. Wake up fatass!
Cartman: [rattled] What what what?
Stan: God-damnit! You can't fall asleep.
Cartman: I wasn't sleeping, I was just thinking really hard!
Thomas: [telling his tale to Randy and Sharon] …And then these aliens had me up on their ship, right? They was probing me and all that.
Nellie: We had taco salad that night.
Thomas: Don't matter what we had for dinner woman! Now this alien had a big head and big black eyes, and it was all bent over me. I said, "What do you want from me, alien?!" and do you know what he said?
Nellie: Tree-fitty.
Thomas: Uh. Let me tell the damn story now! He said, "tree-fitty." And so I realized I that it wasn't no alien, it was that God-damned Loch Ness monster again, trying to trick me into giving him tree-fitty by dressing up like an alien. Don't that just beat all?!
Nellie: I had just given him tree-fitty the week before.
Thomas: What?! You gave that monster another damn tree-fitty?!
Nellie: [somewhat defensive] He tricked me.
Thomas: Well no wonder the damn monster keeps coming back to our house! You keep giving it tree-fitty!
[Inside, Stan and Kyle try to get Cartman's attention again]
Stan: Come on Cartman!
Cartman: [pressing every button on the tape player] I can't see anything!
Kenny: [tries to help] (Wait…) [the succubus lands on Kenny, breaking the pew in half. Kenny is dead under her feet]
Stan: Oh my God! She killed Kenny!
Kyle: You bastard!
Nellie: [with a stick, runs at the succubus] You damn monster! Get away from my baby!
Thomas: [reaching into his pocket] Hold on, now, I'll see if I have tree-fitty!
[The optometrist's office. Cartman walks in with a large ice box. His bandages are off. Now we know why he wasn't at school with Stan and Kyle.]
Dr. Lott: Oh, hello, piggy. How are your eyes doing?
Cartman: After today they're gonna be fine, and I'll never have to see you ever again!
Dr. Lott: I don't think that's possible, piggy, not with your eyes.
Cartman: No, not with my eyes. With these! [takes Kenny's frozen head out of the box to show the eyes] Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Dr. Lott: Was he an organ donor?
Cartman: Eh-sure.
Dr. Lott: All right, then let's get to work. [Cartman gets in the chair, and the optometrsit pulls out Kenny's left eye] Say, you don't have three dollars and fifty cents on you, do you?

UPDATE:
Installed the AEM EMS last night. My buddy D-tuned programmed the initial break-in map. It made so much of a difference, it's awesome!
I was spooling the shit out of that SC61. We were only boosting 6 psi on a conservative tune and timing. The idle still needs some work.
To initially get a base tune, we had to get on second gear and go WOT all the way to redline which we set at 9000 RPM. I sat on the driver seat as D dials the numbers and log the data. Each time we go, I would let off at 5500 RPM cuz it would scare the fuk out of me. I had to let off about 3 times. The 4th time, I just held on to dear life and drove it pass 9000. We went back to my garage and saved the data. I was shaking for half an hour.......
It feels good that my Teg is starting to get to my goal. A few more street tune and we're off to the DYNO.....
......stand by........... :smoking:

UPDATE:
Shit happens..... This project is really testing my patience.... but I will win!
So I got the car running but it was smoking really bad. I waited a few days thinking that it maybe just residual shit is the system. However, the smoke wouldnt go away and it gets thicker by the day.
Myself and a few other friends concluded that I was burning coolant. I was somewhat convinced but I had to do something about it. So I pulled the head off and replaced a head gasket that didnt even have 100 miles.
I put the head back on and torqued it down properly. As I was installing the rest of the components, I noticed that there was a puddle of oil inside my SC61 turbine housing. No oil in the compressor housing. The charge pipe is dry all the way. The head exhaust ports are dry as well.
This was the cause:
When I initially installed the turbo. I had the move the compressor housing around to get the discharge side to match with my charged piping. As I was securing the back bolts of the compressor housing, the housing did not sit fully flush therefore the compressor blades started rubbing against the housing. As it rubbed against the housing, it misaligned the turbo shaft causing the turbine seal to fail. I reposition the housing the retorques the back bolts. It doesnt smoke or leak as bad as it used to anymore but I cant tune until I fix this issue.
It was my fuk up. The rebuild is $400 and will cost me another $300 to upgrade to a large housing and bigger blades. So screw it! I'm getting another turbo. I'm undecided to either get an SC63, GT35R, or fully custom T3T66. The price range is about the same except the GT35R will cost a little more.

It was a bitch trying to make an elbow and bends for this rerouted turbo-to-intercooler pipe. I made so many V-cuts to get the turn that I needed. Wlding this together with a flux core wire fed machine also was a challenge.
I had to make it come to the front like this to improve ground clearance and over pipe length versus trying to go around and over my traction bar. This turbo sits low also.

Traction bar is functional (installed). Bought a new battery. Started the car and it fired up! Warmed up the car and took it for a couple of runs on the street. GT35R fuckin rocks!
I did so much welding on the piping fabrication as you can see from the pics.

We set the VTEC low to see what the motor will do while reacting to boost. I have a stock JDM ITR head. Cams are stock JDM ITR.
UPDATE:
Hooked up the GM boost solenoid and it improved the boost spikes and power feels more responsive and linear. However, I still get boost spikes on 4th gear rolls. We have the boost cut set at 11psi. I havent driven a fast car in a while. Today, I got scared again on the third gear pull at WOT all the way up to 92000 RPM.
My 38mm WG is not holding boost. I'm gonna look for a 44mm now.
Also, another issue is the oil leak. I'm leaking oil behin the block somewhere. I've already check the oil pressure sensor, my GReddy adapter plate, oil temp sensor, oil pressure sensor (to electronic gauge), oil pan gasket, and the head/block mating. I have no clue where this oil is coming from. My catch can is dry as shit. I'm gonna clean it off and start the car while on a jack stand. Maybe I'd see it then.......

Still looking for an oil leak. Looking around, I found that my VTEC solenoid also had a miniscule leak. I worked on my tuner's car today. He shattered his reverse gear and second gear synchro. So we pulled the tranny out. Then a phone call came from one of his sponsors offering him a great deal on a proto-type twin disk clutch. I ended up buying his Exedy twin disk for $850 so he can test out this new clutch from his sponsor. The Exedy only has 5 miles on it :D.

thermal
02-24-2006, 04:30 PM
Well, I still cant figure out where the oil is coming from, although I discovered that my oil return line was leaking.... but not enough to cause my previous problem. I also reseated my oil filter just to make sure.
While working on my tuner's tranny yesterday, he received a phone call from his prospective clutch sponsor. They offered him a proto-type twin disk for a deal too stupid to refuse. I ended up buying this proto-type clutch for him for $850, in return, I kept his 5 mile old Exedy twin disk. I just need a Quaife LSD now to pull the tranny out again. That wont happend until later next month or so.....
About to pick-up a Tial 44mm wastegate in a couple of hours.

First one is the Exedy twin disk. Second is the newly fabbed gauge pod that included my AEM EUGO wideband and two switches: N2O IC spray and GM high boost switch. The rest are self explanatory....

I'm still puzzled with the oil leak problem. After driving it more, it doesnt seem like my motor oil is going down. Further troubleshooting led me to think that maybe the tranny is leaking from the midshaft (half shaft) seal. If this is true, it will explain why I have oil all over the place. As the midshaft rotates, it slings oil all over the back side of the motor. I cant check the oil level on the tranny unless I drain it. But what I will do is use GM syncromesh this time since it has a distinguishing smell and color to it, unlike Honda MTF which is almost the same as a motor oil.....

FINALLY! I found the cause of the oil leak!!!!!! It was a pinched/cut o-ring on the PCV box.

I have an IACV bro.... it's just that it wont be a Honda IACV. I'll be using a Ford IACV. Freebie from the Junkyard. I'll be able to run any of the Ford IACV with the same flange pattern like the ones below. It will be recalibrated via EMS.

UPDATE:
Although the progess may seem slow to some, it really has been a productive few days for me. I was held back a little bit while researching the thread pitch of the coolant banjo fitting for the GT35R turbo. I actually found it accidentally via an RX7 forum. Since I no longer use a stock IACV, I used the existing coolant connections for it and routed it to the coolant side of the turbo passage. It turned out great but it really is too hard to take pics of it.
Pic 1 is the refabricated intercooler pipe inlet side. This is now the fourth one I did. I'm somewhat happy with it. I chose to use a 2.5 inch inlet side to increase the velocity coming into the intercooler.
Pic 2 is the mounted position of the intercooler and the 3 inch intercooler outlet piping that I fabbed.
Pic 3 is just another pic of the 3 inch charged pipe with the tial BOV which also now has a stiffer spring.
Pic 4 is the mounted position of the Ford IAVC.
Pic 5 is the C.O.P. conversion.
All the wiring for the C2Di, IACV, and TPS is done. The bumper is back on. All fluids are replenished. It is time to fire the car up. I just need to get my tuner in the garage to adjust the EMS to compensated for the C.O.P.

It has been super slow on progress. All I have done to my Teg is install an AEM 5 BAR MAP sensor. I think that I also figured out why my car wont idle normal. The Boomslang conversion harness I have didnt have the pinout installed for the IACV solenoid. I'm talking about they didnt even have the pins in the connectors. So, I ran an external wire and repin the proper connector to control the Ford IACV. However, I still havent had a chance to test it out since my tuner has to reconfigure my MAP settings to compensate for a 5 BAR.
I have been busy doing other people's car. I'm also trying to make money on the side. This week, starting Friday, I will be installing an S2000 muffler on a 2001 civic, then fabricate/weld intercooler piping for an Eclipse, then possibly fab a 2.5 inch DP on a CRX.
More to come...........

Yet again another issue. My tuner got the car started today and improved the idling issue. Made 2 runs on the street and my AEM C2Di overheated and literally almost caught on fire. There was so much smoke inside the car. We will be contacting AEM to get another one. Hopefully they give us the new one they call "twin-fire". Between my tuner and looking around the web, C2Di actually had a bad QA reputation. Which is why they have discontinued production and redesigned it.

damn that sounds like my msd ignition, what do you mean "bad QA reputation"
GT40FIED
04-17-2006, 08:48 AM
QA usually means "quality assurance". Bad QA means that the company hasn't tested the product well enough to make it durable and safe.
I had a similar experience with an MSD 6A box a few years ago. I used to live in a cul de sac and was driving up to my house after work. The engine suddenly died and I had tons of smoke pouring from the cowl of my hood. I ran home (just up the street) to grab a fire extinguisher and didn't find one. Luckily for me, the smoke was from the box which had completely fried my chassis harness (all of those wires behind the dash). Yes, it was a nightmare replacing them. Yes, I hate MSD. And yes, I still use MSD...but now I only use their digital stuff. The analog stuff will give up the ghost in about a year or so.

thermal
06-01-2006, 01:09 PM
These AEM ignition modules had TRIPLE fu**ed me already....
C2di unit (box #1), about 5 miles...... caught on fire. I called AEM for a replacement. In the meantime, CompressionFed offered me his C2di unit (box #2) from his race car, but shutdowns my motor every time it gets warm, which is around 30-40 miles of driving. Will function again after it cools down. I even hooked up a 12v fan to it. No luck. So, when I got my replacement unit from AEM, I was glad to see that they sent me a Twin-Fire.... this is box #3 now. About 200 miles later, this Twin-Fire is now frying the inline power fuse. I slapped a new fuse about 3 times but keeps on blowing it.
I cant deal with these units anymore. Three brand new ignition amp with the same results. When the second box failed, I almost got hit by an 18 wheeler when my car died out on an exit ramp.. a blind spot from hell... a busy industrial area.... Truck got so close to me that he had to go on reverse just to come around me. I got out of the car to redirect traffic when another 18 wheeler swerved to avoid me and almost hit the car next to him.
I've contacted AEM and I was told that this is the first problem they had with the Twin-Fire box. They are willing to replace my current one for free. But I dont want to use it anymore. I'll get the new one and sell it. I think these units are more of a race car application anyway.
So I bought this set-up:
http://www.msdignition.com/dist_84_8488.htm. Good stuff from what I've heard. Also has a built in "hall-effect" sensor. Coil on Plug conversion looks cool and in theory should work better than the OEM Honda system. But it is not worth the headache. The other option was to get another 4 channel output Ignition amp from M&W..... but that is $899..... I can buy another EMS for that price......
I'll post a review soon.....

Meh...Hall Effect stuff isn't anything too special. I've always like the idea of a DIS setup, but you're right...it's not worth the headache. If your car didn't come with it, there's a good chance products made for your model won't work well or at all. The DFI kit I have is pretty much setup for MSD stuff (any capacitive discharge stuff will work, but they recommend MSD). MSD's digital stuff is the only stuff they make worth a shit (as far as ignition boxes go...never had a problem with my distributor). All of the analog boxes will fry if they're under a hood. You can mount them in the cabin and hope it doesn't crap out, but who wants to do all that work?
Oh...and $900 for a fucking ignition box? Does the package contain two hot lesbians who'll go at it whenever you want? If not, it's not worth it.

Today started out slow but turned out to be great.
Around noon, Scott, the AEM Twin-Fire design engineer called me today. I was asked to test out some proto-type changes on the AEM Twin-Fire at the company's expense.... of course he had to verify what type of set-up I had.... I said that I dont mind, as long as I have a point of contact in case anything happens. He will be giving me his contact info so I can directly talk to him. I guess I'll take another shot at this Twin-Fire. I will still keep my MSD dist set-up tho....
For the rest of the day, after hours of thinking, I've decided to take apart my old integra seats, more specifically the bracket/sliding system. I wasnt suprised to see that the rails are only in 2 piece... the left and right side. After owning an aftermarket slider/rail/bracket system, I really wished to have the same functionality and ease of the stock OEM ones. So, I went ahead chop, grind, cut, weld, and grind some more on the stock rails. Then I fabricated a mounting bracket for the Recaro seat. I was so stoked of how it came out! Factory slide feel and the seat sits like stock.... which I really wanted. The Sparco seats sat terribly low and the my kitchen drawers worked better than the sliders it came with. The Sparco brackets also didnt fit right. One bolt was always off......
To get a 2 pairs of Recaro sliders and bracket, it would cost me around $250. I didnt spend a dime on this fabrication. The materials are scrap that I already have laying around my garage.
