What is the difference between ceramic coated headers and plain stainless steel? Nothing major? Or is it just a way to swindle more money out of us?

From my understanding... The ceramic headers are usually a milder steel and then coated with ceramic. The coating helps with heat distrubution. The stainless steel headers are usually a nicer finish as well as being stronger then the ceramic headers (which have a reputation of cracking, although I don't know anyone that has had their headers cracked yet).

Stainless are stronger, but newer ceramic (good brands) don't really have cracking problems as much. I've beat up the bottom of my dc ceramic header and its still just fine. Ceramic also keeps more heat out of the engine bay.

The finish... You're paying the extra $90 is for the mirror-like finish.

I haven't heard from anyone who has had a problem with cracking around here, and I would say that you are paying more for the fact that it is shiny.
figure most people are like barracudas, so they can sell more by making it sparkle
