Zetec=honda Vtec Killer=i Doubt It
So I was reading one of my not so recent super street's or honda tuning magazine's and ford is planning on releasing what they call a honda Killer. It's a Focus with an engine that has zetec. First off. Ford will never be HOnda. So quit trying to copy them. Second. Maybe if they weren't releasing it in the 4 doors. It would be alright. Third. Wait a second. I can't think of anythign else. Oh well...what do you think about this new zetec thing. Personally I know I just trashed it...but I don't think it's gonig to be that bad.

heres a more in depth look at why Ford will never be a Honda
1. Its still has the blue oval and that is more than any car should have to bear. 2. Ford has peice of shit cars. Someone didnt coin the phrase Ford P.O.S for nothing 3. With 4.6 liters in the Mustang and they can only produce 265 horsepower imagine what they can do with half the displacement My final thoughts "if it looks like a Ford or drives like a Ford it wont go in my garage" |

See like I said I just got into it...so i didn't know that much...and why can't ford produce their own cars instead of taking mazda's and putting their badges on them....or the escort GT. Mitsubishi engine in them. Because Ford can't produce good cars. 64.5-69 mustangs were good but now...nope sorry.

I think the stangs are pretty cool.
Sound good and run ok. But i'm pretty sure if honda was on a mission to build a large displacement muscle car, they'd achieve something much more impressive.

honda does have a beast motor.... the powerful V8 motor thats not put into production on their sold cars like civic, accord, prelude, minivans, and what not. Its there race motor. Think if that motor was downsized, and shoved into the new accord... the family cars would be pushing some serious horsepower... blowing the doors off SS camaros, mustangs, firebirds, .... any domestic "muscle car"... families would be getting to disneyland ALLL kinda quick-like.
Difference between the Vtec and ZEtec... well... Honda at least put out a reliable motor, then came out w/ v-tec.. Ford, well they havent successfully on their OWN, put out a reliable motor. All the focus have recalls for catching on fire. They use mitsubishi, and mazda for their more dependable "ford" cars. i doubt there were will be too many bolt-ons for the zetec, and hardly any fabricated types of forced induction that will work on it. without paying a grip of money, and possibly having problems. |

and to add on.... regardless....
Ford has very few good lookin cars... exception of the probe... and the mustangs are "ok" .... but i have yet to see an ugly ass Honda... i mean.. Taurus vs Accord... which one looks better???? escort vs. civic which one looks better??? mustang vs S2k- which one looks better??? explorer vs passport/CRV- which one looks better??? i think i made my point there... |

I like the newer Mustangs. they at least have some balls when it comes to speed. Nothin against anyone on here if they have a Focus, but i really think these things are crap. its Fords weak attempt to tap into the "import" market, and it s a pretty weak one. the up-coming SVT focus seems like it will give the new Si a run for its money performance wise....but damn....are these things ugly or what?! not to hate on em....but my friend has one, and from the day she got it, it has caused nothin but problems. all kinds of squeeks, rattles, things like that. i mean, the Eclipses arent exactly the poster child for reliability, but least they look somewhat good, and mine has never gave me any trouble(knocks on wood)

The Focus is ugly yes.... so are the neons.. but they are small, light, and you can make them fast... well the civic's you can.. i dunno about the focus

I rented a focus once..
Drove it from Montreal to Toronto... And back. Man what a crap that was. Totally sucked IMO.

Just a little FYI. Apparently Ford has been at this ZETEC deal for a while. I stumbled across some F1 engines. I didn't know they had been using ZeTec.

If you guys would actually do some reading into the Ford Focus "SVT" you will see that it is a 100% honda killer. I agree with you all when you say the Mustang is a piece but we arent talking about the Mustang here. We are talking about the Ford Focus, which the only reason Ford came out with it was to beat on Honda's. They would have to make it better inorder to do that as Ford is seeing the import scene growing every single year. You all down the "Zetec" term because it resembles "V-tec". Dont hate on it...The Zetec has been proven to be a more powerful powerband than Honda's V-tec. Infact..I think the only reason Honda changed the SI over to a hatchback model was to compete with the Focus SVT model. As you can see by the pictures that im sure you have seen...it looks just like the Focus. Whos coping who now??? Im not downing Honda in any way but I dont think you should down Ford for a car that they made and has been proven in numerous tests to beat on Honda's. The Focus SVT would have beaten up on the Honda SI 99-00 models simply because of weight and power but I believe Honda's comeback with the SI hatch will make a more reasonable weight. Even if they copied Ford on the modeling. Just my thoughts on the mattter.

Isnt the H22 in a prelude??? I believe that the Focus would win that one just by weight advantage alone...Also...I Focus was brought out to compete with the Civic...As everyone knows there are more Civics hooked up in America than integra's, preludes and eclipses. That is Ford main target. To beat on the Civic. Yes, 92 was the release of the hatch SI but it was remodeled for a reason. They only stopped production of the 99-00 SI's when Ford released the Focus. Honda "knew" that the SVT apon release would own civics (stock vs stock) therefore they redesigned it back to a hatch. stock vs stock is funny because there are already more Focus part manufacters out there than my 420A eclipse. Even the manufacters knew it was going to be a beating so of course they made every possible part for it as they could. I also believe that the new focus is one of the few cars to give the Lancer Evolution a compitition in the Rally events. All and all it is a nice car and for all of you who said its ugly...check out the new SI. I dont like that thing at all. Isnt the shifter in the dash where the radio would normally be on other cars?? Im not sure on that but thats what I heard...

Just thought we'd compare apples to apples....
Specs from Ford (Focus SVT) Displacement: 1,988cc; 121 cu. in. Compression ratio: 10.2:1 Horsepower: 170 hp @ 7,000 rpm Torque: 145 lb.-ft. @ 5,500 rpm Curb Weight: ???? lbs Specs from Honda (2000 Si) Displacement: 1595cc Compression Ratio: 10.2:1 Horsepower: 160 hp @ 7600 rpm Torque: 111 ft-lb @ 7000 rpm Curb Weight: 2612 lbs 145 ft-lb torque. That's pretty impressive. Notice the difference in RPMS for the peak HP and the peak TQ. And how much does the damn thing weigh? They don't have that on their site. And the engine is 393 cc bigger(2.0L vs a 1.6L) than an Si. I would hope that it would produce more power. So we have the SVT Focus with a 2.0L engine producing 85 HP per Liter and the Si with a 1.6L engine producing 100 HP per liter. And lets not forget the track record Honda has. Their cars last. Its proven. Then there's Ford. I'll leave it at that. I do like the fact that the SVT Focus comes with 17's. That's a nice feature. Though it still doesn't make the car look any prettier. Granted, the SVT Focus is HUGE leap for Ford. I don't forsee it "over-taking" Honda though.
